*The ACWA requires a guest fee for military participation; this fee is payable directly to the 79th. In addition, ACWA safety tests and a 79th membership form needs to filled out. Civilian participants must also pay a guest fee directly to the 79th, and fill out all appropriate forms.
Persons of all ages may join the 79th, but only children 14 and up are allowed on the field of battle (as flag bearers, drummers, etc), and only children 16 and up are allowed to carry a rifle after they have taken their safety test. Not everyone who joins is required to go out on the field and fight. There are many civilians in the unit, soldiers wives and family, who do not don the Union blue!
Minors are required by law to be accompanied by a parent or legal guadian.
You are not reguired to own all the gear by a certain time; some of the purchases can be large, so we can provide most of the equipment and basic uniform items on loan. For your own comfort and convenience, we suggest that you buy the uniform as soon as possible - loaner uniform items being the hardest to fit.
