CHAPTER 19: THE AWAKENING

I snapped out of my misery when I heard Yusuke's scream. I quickly laid Kiyo down and stood up. I stared in horror as I saw Yusuke in Kuroi's grip. Her lips dangerously close to his. No!!!" I screamed as I fired my firewind at her. As I did the bonds of the golden bracelets broke. The spell was broken! I was free! The blast sent her flying through the wall. I quickly hovered over Yusuke. He was in pain. "No! I won't let this happen again! Not to you!!!" I screamed as I held him close. Kuroi chuckled evilly. "Too late, girl!" she mocked her.
I had had enough. I was at the breaking point of my temper. Suddenly a peculiar sense of peace and power entered the depths of my soul. I begin to feel a surge of change and power. Blue and white aura encircled around me. I felt a force lifting me from the ground. As I floated above the ground, the waves of blue and white covered me. I felt my body shift and transform as an ancient power awakened and flowed through my veins.
They could only stare in shock as Botan was engulfed with powerful blue and white flames.
A figure stepped out of the blaze. I felt as though I possessed by some entity. My body had grown more defined and my hair had grown longer. My clothes were also different. I could feel an olive wreath at the top of my head. "Kuroi Shinzoo, I spoke my voice now stronger and lighter than before, for your crimes. I the goddess of fire and wind condemn you to death! How do you plead?" Kuroi eyes widened at the sight of her. She laughed nervously. "You, a goddess? Don't make me laugh!" "Very well." I smiled impassively as I held out my palm. "You think that would stop me?" Kuroi launched herself towards Botan shrieking a war cry.
Yusuke's eyes bulged out as he saw a different Botan step out of the flames. It was still Botan but it looked like an older version of her. She was taller and the curves of her body were more defined. She was dressed in a stunningly radiant white satin dress that was off her shoulders and there was a long slit running through her legs. She was beautiful. And his heart sang as he listened to her angelic voice. Botan was a goddess? Just at that moment when she stood courageously defending him, he believed it with all his heart.
Botan's blast shook the whole castle, as Kuroi dissipated the whole castle shifted and turned back into an old warehouse. Kuwabara and Kurama each breathed a sigh of relief. Finally it was all over. Yusuke turned to them and gave them a thumbs-up sign and they smiled in relief. But just then a thud behind him reached his ears. He felt as if someone had socked him on the jaw. He turned in horror and saw Botan's still body lying on the ground. "BOTAN!" he screamed as he held her in his arms. Drinking in the sight of her divine ethereal face and the paleness of her skin. "Botan!" he began shaking her hard. If he ever lost her he wouldn't know what he would do to himself. "Botan! Come on Botan! You can't die on me!!! You can't die! You can't! Damnit I LOVE YOU!" he cried out.
Yusuke was stunned as he heard his words echo through the warehouse. Is that true? His mind questioned him. Isn't it too soon to love someone else after Keiko? His mind prodded on.
In his mind's eye he looked at her, his heart gently reminded him of the memories they had together. He saw Botan riding her oar laughing happily while he held on to the handle for dear life. And there was the time when Yakumo captured Botan and he hadn't been able to do anything about it. He had screamed in outrage and went on to save her and avenge her. He also remembered the time when she had come bravely with Kuwabara, Hiei and Kurama to save him when he was kidnapped. Even though she didn't have any training she still tried to save him. And how he refused to hit her when Kito had said it was all he had to do for Kito to let them go. You have loved her, his heart whispered to him. From the very start.
Yusuke slowly bent his head as he gently kissed her. He was sure now. His heart finally opened his eyes to the one that he truly loved. And he won't ever let her go even if it meant storming into Koenma's office and demanding her resurrection or going to the Ma kai to find her. He would find her and love her always. His heart sang as his lips met hers, he had finally found the half of his soul. Just then he felt her stir beneath him.
I looked up and felt a force pressing against my lips. I opened my eyes and was numbed and shocked by what I saw. Yusuke was kissing me? I must still be out. I'm still dreaming! Yusuke blushed to the roots of his hair when he saw Botan's eyes widen in shock. Then suddenly forgetting his embarrassment and realizing she was alive he hugged her tightly. "You're alive! You're alive!" He giggled happily. [Yes people, that's how drunkenly happy he was. Yusuke Urameshi giggled!!!] I continued to numb in shock I was definitely still dreaming Yusuke would never ever giggle like that! "I though I had lost you." Yusuke said as he gingerly pushed the hair out of her face. My skin tingled as his finger brushed my face. Okay now I know I'm definitely not dreaming! I never felt *that* way in a dream.
Kuwabara was stunned to hear his best friend say that but he suddenly grinned understanding now why Keiko and Yusuke's marriage didn't work out. Yusuke was meant for another. And Kuwabara was glad he had found her at last. Kurama was also grinning from ear to ear. He had sensed it long ago that Botan was in love with her partner. And he was happy to finally know that her partner loved her as well.
I cringed as I felt static electricity run through me as he caressed my face. "Okay! Thanks for the CPR, Yusuke! But I'm perfectly okay now!" I said cheerfully as I nervously got up. Yusuke looked at her in amusement. CPR huh? I'll give you CPR! he thought as he got up. But I wasn't tying to give you CPR, Botan!" Yusuke said brightly a glint of mischief in his eyes. "Huh? Ahehhe! What was it then?" I chuckled tensely.
"This!" Yusuke said as he grabbed her and dipped her into a deep kiss. Hoping with all his being that she wouldn't slap him and reject him. I was startled when I felt him grab me and shocked to feel his lips against mine. What the? What the hell was he doing?! Why that pervert! But my lips weren't following what my mind was screaming as it kissed him back.
Yusuke's eyes widened when he felt Botan's lips kiss him back. He felt giddy with pleasure.
Kurama and Kuwabara sweat drop. "Umm Uh Kurama! Should we disturb them?" Kuwabara asked. "We better or else they might die of oxygen deprivation!" Kurama chuckled. They approached them with smiles on their faces. "Ahem!" Kurama coughed exaggeratedly. "Hey you two break it up! Or you both might die of oxygen deprivation." Botan reluctantly broke away from Yusuke and smiled sheepishly at Kurama and Kuwabara. Suddenly their comlinks beeped. Botan opened hers and saw Koenma-sama's face in the mirror. "Botan! Lead the rest of the team back here! This is urgent!" "Hai! Koenma-sama!" Botan said obediently. "And Botan---" Koemna paused. "Yes Koenma-sama?" Botan asked him. "Why is your face so red?" "Ahhh uhhh" Botan stammered and blushed even more. Never mind just get here fast! Koenma snapped as he signed out.
As I stood up the others where already running out the door. I began to follow them when I remembered something. I quickly knelt beside Kiyo and felt through his pockets. Ah! The orb! I thought happily as I clutched it. I immediately laid Kiyo down promising to bury his body once I get back from Koenma's. I ran to catch up with the others.
AN HOUR LATER…
"Koenma-sama! They're here!" George called out. "Ok bring them in now!" Koenma shouted as he did his wide doors flew open. "What is it Koenma-sama?" Botan rushed to him.
Koenma chewed on his fuukumen and waited for the rest of the team to step in the room before answering her. "I heard that you were all missing a soul." Koenma said slowly. Confusion played on their faces. He pointed out to the corner where a short boy stood reservedly leaning back on the wall. The boy stepped into the light. "Wait! That's… that's…" Yusuke stammered pointing at the boy with spiked hair. "Hiei!" Botan screamed in delight as I ran to him. And before he could even escape I wrapped him in an enthusiastic hug. I felt his body freeze as I hugged him then I felt him relax. I cried happily. Hiei was alive! She had her master, brother and friend back. "Hn! Why are you crying NOW?" Hiei asked her in amusement. "And damnit woman not so tight!" Hiei muttered "Or Yusuke might fry my butt in jealousy." He added with what looked like a smile.
I froze while Yusuke choked as he heard Hiei's jibe. How the hell did he know?
Kurama gasped as he saw Hiei stepped out of the shadows. He was alive! Hiei was alive But how can that be?
Kuwabara's eyes nearly bulged out of his head as he saw who the figure was. Hiei? Hiei was alive! Kuwabara scratched his head. How can that be?
"Koenma-sama, how can this be? It's great and everything but how?" Kurama implored the young prince. "He died for a heroic cause. He died for a rei kai tantei and the most plausible reason of all…" he paused. "He died for a goddess."
His last statement made me whirl around and grab him by the shoulders. "You knew? You knew about my being a goddess and didn't tell me?!!!" I shouted at him. "Calm down! Botan! And let me explain!" Koenma shouted. "Oops! Sorry!" I said impishly as I let go off him.
"Now that I all have your attention, listen to me carefully as I tell you a tale of long ago…"Koenma started mysteriously as he began to tell the tale of Botan's ancestry.
"I-I am Aeris?" I stammered as I heard Koenma's story. I just couldn't believe what I just heard. "Why didn't you tell me, Koenma?" I asked him curiously. Koenma shrugged, "I just heard it once from dad and then I forgot all about it. I just recently remembered it again when Hiei asked me why you had such inexplicable power when you were training." "WHAT? Hiei! You knew about it too!" I shouted accusingly. Hiei glared at Koenma with murder in his eyes. Koenma tried to look busy as he shuffled some papers in his desk. Oopsie. "Hey don't blame me! He's the idiot who told me to keep it a secret!" Hiei said defensively. My eyes burned Koenma to the ground. Ahheheehehe! Koenma chuckled nervously. "I was just trying to see if the goddess in you would reveal itself in time. And it did!" He said as he pointed to the monitor above their heads that showed the warehouse.
"So that's why you knew about--"Yusuke caught himself as he and Botan turned beet red. The whole room burst with laughter.

hhehehe gee I love this chapter HIEI COMES BACK TO LIFE! NOW NOW Did you really think I'd let Hiei really die forever? hehhe one more to go...
