CHAPTER 12- Training

As they ate, Yusuke told them of the intruder that he saw last night. But he didn’t mention the kissing part (that might alarm Botan too much.) “What! An intruder? Why didn’t I know about this?” I hollered. “Because, Botan, I myself didn’t know if it was my imagination or not. It would’ve been stupid if I worried you about something I wasn’t even sure about!” Yusuke explained. “We must keep our wits about us, our enemy is checking out his opponents.” Kurama concluded. After they had finished clearing the table, Yusuke asked Kurama if he could speak with him. “Botan, Hiei! We’re just going up on the roof!” Yusuke called out. “Ok!” I cried.

After they had left, I was finally alone with Hiei. I wanted to ask him if we could train that day. “Hiei, I approached him, could we train today?” “Why? My duties to you as your master are over. I have no obligation to train you in any way. Besides, you don’t need it. You already defeated one of our enemies single-handedly.” He said coldly. “But please, Hiei, I have only one attack and you know that one is not enough!” I pleaded. “You have the use of your staff.” He scoffed. “But a staff could only do so much!” I said my voice rising. “Please, Hiei!” I pleaded. Silence. I was just about to give up when he said “follow me. ” “Wait! What about Yusuke and Kurama!” “Leave them a note or something. I don’t care.” He answered as he leapt of the windowsill. Damn! I wrote on a piece of paper and stuck it on the door and hurriedly pulled out my oar to follow him.

“What is it, Yusuke?” Kurama asked gently. His friend would not have called him away from the others if it were irrelevant. “Last night, I saw the intruder do something weird.” Yusuke said hesitantly. “What did he do?” “I saw him kissing Botan.” Yusuke said. “NANI?!” Kurama yelled in disbelief. “Yeah, that was my reaction too!” “I see.” Kurama said in deep thought. “It looks like our dear enemy has a little crush on Botan.” Kurama said slowly. “WHAT?” Yusuke burst out laughing. “Someone is in love with Botan! Why that’s the most hilarious thing I have ever heard!” He doubled over laughing. The thought to him was ridiculous. Someone in love with the deity of death? Kurama looked at Yusuke wheezing on the floor with laughter. Kurama turned to go shaking his head. “Are you coming or not!” he said crossly. “Coming!” Yusuke yelled amusement in his voice.

As I neared the park that I saw Hiei disappear into, I see him practicing his sword skills. With his shirt off and his graceful stabs, it was hard not to admire his muscular build. I blush suddenly noticing that I was staring. I abruptly jumped to the floor next to him. “Attack me.” Hiei said as he turned to face me. “What?!” I said startled. “Attack me or else I will” he said as he thrust his sword forward. I barely managed to block his sword. I yelled as I struck my staff but before I could hit him, I felt his sword cut my left arm. “Never leave your defenses down, even if you are attacking your opponent. Heighten your senses, baka!” he jeered. Aurgh! I yelled as I blocked one of his thrusts and did one of my own. I missed barely. They began to fight with complete and utter concentration. Thrusts and blocks were executed. His speed is incredible but I have a few tricks up my sleeve too! As he did a side thrust I took the chance and jumped off, only to appea r behind him and struck hard. I nearly missed but I didn’t. Ow shit! I nearly got clobbered by that one, Hiei thought. Hiei stood off to one side clutching his right arm. I hit him! I hit Hiei! Oops, I probably shouldn’t be this happy but I can’t help it! I thought as I grinned from ear to ear. “Very good, Botan!” he said hesitantly. “But it doesn’t take just one strike to kill an opponent” he finished as he vanished and appeared in front of her and slashed her. I gasped as I felt the cold steal of Hiei’s katana graze through my legs. Half of my skirt slipped down. My skirt became a mini skirt! “Why Hiei! You pervert!” I hollered forgetting myself as I slapped him across the cheek. Hiei was stunned looks like he’s never been slapped before. “What the hell did you do that for!” he hollered. “I’m so-sorry, Hiei. I didn’t mean to slap you!” I apologized. “Hn! Baka!” Hiei muttered. That flared me up. “Why it serves you right! What makes you think you could slit people’s dresses l ike that!” I said furiously. “Look, I was just demonstrating a move! You’re the one who wanted to train here.” he grunted. “Okay, okay. I overreacted.” I grumbled. “And besides why would I have any interest in someone as ugly as you!” he said. Womp! I whacked him with my oar. Hiei no baka!

“Botan! Hiei! Where are those guys?” Yusuke wondered out loud. Kuwabara approached them. “Hey, you feelin’ better?” Yusuke asked his friend. Yeah, he grumbled. “Oi! There’s a note here stuck on your door.” Kuwabara said. Yusuke snatched the paper and read out loud. “Went out shopping, Botan. Hmm? Does this mean Hiei went shopping with her?” Yusuke asked. “Hmmp! Hiei went shopping with Botan!” Kuwabara fell over from laughing. “I can just picture it now. Hiei wearing an itsy bitsy cute pink ensemble!” Kuwabara guffawed. “Stop it Kuwabara!” he reprimanded him. Trying not to laugh of also, Yusuke asked Kurama, “do you think he’s with her?” “Yes, he did agree on not leaving her alone.” Kurama said slowly, trying to erase the image of Hiei in a hot pink number that kept tickling his mind. They stepped inside and exchanged a look. They burst out in boisterous laughter.
