Cartoonist Added

The Hidden Lake Dispatch
has added the comic strip "Hidden Lake" to it's comic
page. The strip follows the adventures of a young reporter sent
to his first posting in a small rural community.
The
strip is the brainchild of cartoonist Mark A. Messler. Mark
has been cartooning since 1973 and is also the artist and CO-creator
of the wildly popular 4
Corners; a comic strip about life in a small Jewish community.
"I came up with the idea for Hidden Lake after my son,
Jason, commented that I needed to do a strip that was more mainstream
and would have a wider appeal. 4 Corners is still a big part
of my life and is just now starting to come into it's own. I
hope Hidden Lake will have the same success." said Mr.
Messler in a recent interview.
Mark
is the author and artist of the children's illustrated book
"Zeyde
and the Hidden Mine" which is currently up for several
awards. "I love drawing and I love writing. This book was
a chance for me to show what I could do in a lager setting.
I hope Hidden Lake will give me more ideas that I can turn into
a graphic novel for a more mature audience." he said.
Mark
is a consultant by profession and writes quality management
systems for companies around the country. He is also a Para
Rabbinic Fellow serving a small synagogue in Mid-Michigan.
The
Dispatch contacted some people who have seen Mark's previous
work and asked them to comment:
Gary
Alder said; "I don't get it."
Mark's
parents, James and Rosemary said; "Yes, we've seen both
comic strips. What did you say it was called?"
Randy
Farb, Mark's CO-creator in 4 Corners said; "Its a cute
strip, its no 4 Corners, but its OK."
Mark's
sister Karen said; "Comic strip? I didn't even know he
could read!"
