Target is now The Equinox

SINCE its humble beginning in 1996, the Target publication has striven to epitomize the real essence of campus journalism. It has served its noble purpose of providing a venue for students' opinions and ideas to be voiced out and to be concretized by the power of the printed word. For 7 years, the Target has undergone the many ups and downs any school publication experiences. Our gratitude to the former staff members who have helped carved this paper a niche in the field of campus journalism, and have sustained and supported this paper through thick and thin.

Now, as we remain open to the challenges of everyday life and are more cognizant of societal issues affecting us, the members of the present editorial staff, in collaboration with the Student Affairs Office (SAO), and with the approval of the Administration, have made a wise decision to change our publication's name.

After a series of deliberations and brainstorming sessions among the staff members, we have finally settled on the name The Equinox which, according to the New World Dictionary of the American language, is "the time when the sun crosses the equator, making night and day equal length in all parts of the earth."

Likewise, a magazine (a sister publication of this paper) is in its planning stage right now and will be released during the second semester. We invite our valued readers, students and faculty alike, to send in their original contributions to be published in said magazine.

A new name means a new identity. And a new attitude. This is the same paper we have endorsed to publish for 7 years-only much better. We remain resolute to continue the work we have begun seven years ago. And we recommit ourselves in providing quality service to our readers by publishing a well-edited school paper that strives to adhere to the ideals of campus journalism, as promoted by Republic Act 7079, the "Campus Journalism Act." This is The Equinox. A new day has begun.
