Vaylor di'Maynavins family, spouses and kin
Youngest child of Tarrin & Donivan, she is Geren's twin sister and is headstrong and unruly at times. She is the main character for the first part of the book. Maly, as she is called ('Chite by Tijer) has issues with insecurity about most things. She is insecure about her apperance and behavior, but most of all she questions her relationship with Tijer, her beau and childhood friend. Maly's insecurities cause her many difficulties and lead her down the road of her fate.
Maly has fierce red hair that is long and curly, she is constantly wondering where it came from as she has not seen anyone else in the family with it. She has vivid emerald green eyes and stands only 5'2" tall. Maly has very pale almost translucent skin with freckles covering her face and arms. Her birthdae is the dae before the Nonae of A'prell (which translates to April 4th) the year of our Lord 1397.
Donivan je'Maynavins
Lord je'Maynavins presides over the plentiful estate of Mayfield in the eastern A'nill Forest. Granted land and title from the King for acts unknown to Maly he is her father and "savior" in many ways. Donivan is 5'10" tall and has dark brown hair graying at the temples down into a well groomed gray beard, pale against his dark skin. He has warm brown eyes and crooked front teeth. Physically he is not as large as his rigid personallity and stern appearance portray. He comes across as "larger than life.".
Tarrin je'Vaylor di'Maynavins
Lady di'Maynavins is the wife of Lord Donivan je'Maynavins. She is the mother of four and her towering personality is unexpected from so slight a woman. She is about 5' tall and has a very small and delicate frame, a minor swell in her middle the only evidence of her bearing children. Tarrin has cold gray-green eyes and dark brown hair, graying with age.
Slate je'Maynavins
Maly's brother and the eldest of her siblings. Slate has gray eyes and ashen hair. He stands 6' tall and runs the Elder Tree Inn, gotten in marriage to Lysen je'Toraly. Was estranged from Donivan because of it. As such is no longer the heir to Mayfield. Born the third dae before the Nonae of Marsh (March 5th) 1391.
Lapis je'Vaylor ti'Maynavins (di'Moltier)
Second child and eldest daughter. Has had a long engagement to Vayton. Stands 5'5" tall with warm skin, pale ice blue eyes and sunstreaked dark blonde hair. Born the sixteenth dae before the Kalendae of Jenari (December 17th) 1393.
Geren je'Maynavins
Maly's twin brother who shares a psychic bond with her. He stands 5'7" tall and has pale blue-green eyes, dark skin and chestnut colored hair. Usually knows what Maly is thinking and feeling, sometimes before she does. Heir to Mayfield.
