FAQ Q: Is there any possibility of seeing TV channels in the Danish, Swedish, or Norwegian languages this way? A: No. For this reason, the market for this kind of TV receiving is extremely limited here in Denmark, which is the opposite of Germany, for example. Q: Which TV channels are interesting, besides the previously mentioned ones? A: It depends on which languages you know. In English, the best are BBC World and CNN International (both excellent and alone worth the investment!). Other good channels are Sky News (from the UK) and CNBC (from the USA with, among other things, the legendary Jay Leno show). CCTV9 from China (yes, in English) is interesting too. Other channels broadcast in English are Al Jazeera, EuroNews, France 24, Russia Today, and Deutsche Welle. There are also English language programs from several other countries, including Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and Kazakhstan. If you understand German, everything you may want to see can be found at Astra. N24 is my personal favorite. If you understand French, there is a lot to see from France, Belgium, Morocco, and several other countries. TV5, TV5 Europe, and RTBF from France and Belgium are probably the best, I think. If you understand Italian, get access via Hotbird. From there, you can see a lot of Italian TV, including all the RAI-channels. Moreover, there is a wealth of TV channels in a lot of different languages. They include Russian, Polish, Greek, Rumanian, Turkish, and Arabic. But since dont understand any of those languages, I never watch these channels. Q: Are all the TV channels from Astra and Hotbird serious? A: No. There is a lot of advertising junk on many of those channels. However, a large number of the channels are serious and sober channels. |
