(e) Density of Detail
In a true boringpostcard, there is an astonishing level of detail. Captured originally on 4x5" colour positive transparencies, the action is rendered minutely, right up to the edge of the shot. In fact, the action is often at the edge of the shot. The captions on the reverse side offer still more information: obscure statistics, engineering details, heart-warmingly familiar placenames, undeserved superlatives.

    (f) Emotional Response
As we view the cards, we are reminded of our own childhoods. In boringpostcards the sun is shining (mostly), kids have no shoes and no responsibilities, the shops are closed from midday Saturday til Monday morning. No-one has yet thought to question the wisdom of the state monopoly. Fizzy drink comes in glass bottles. < >
