Just a little about me. My name is Nola. I go by the aliases Hermie and Mantida online. I am a high school girl that sleeps in a bed in Arlington, Texas. My ancestors were huns, those big scary people in Mulan. I find that funny.
I have an obsession with the computer and aim. I am not computer illiterate; I understand CSS and HTML.

We all start somewhere... What got me into the computer world? My mom's allergy to everything with fur and feathers. I started raising strange pets. An obsession starting with hermit crabs led me to the LHC, the land hermit crab forums, where I gained the nickname Hermie. From there I built on knowledge of text smilies and talking to people online.  Then came the phase of neopets. Since I couldn't have a dog or a cat or hamster, I went with the scaly and the pixelated. Yes, I was hardcore addicted to that site for 3-4 years. My health kind of deteriorated during that time period. All I did was stay on the computer 24/7 playing neopets; then came subeta. I made a transition from an obsession over neo to subby, but that transition went back and forth from both sites. Eventually both addictions died down when neo made its final and most horrible update. Today the site is in ruins and my account is rotting. For all you who still play on that horrible wreckage of a website and are curious, my main account was cohttage, and my alias hermieful (yes... I had premium. I PAYED for virtual pets. Lol, pitiful isn't it?). From there you can find my other sides. For subeta you can look me up as 'hermie'.
 Neopets and subeta did give me SOMETHING in return for those long hours of health deterioration... a new skill of writing, an understanding of CSS and HTML and more about the computer in general, and a blossoming artistic talent. I was a roleplayer, meaning I wrote stories and drew pictures for my little pixelated pets. I drew more pictures; I made fancy layouts for my pets' pages using CSS and HTML; I created graphics for my pets and for other people using photoshop and other programs; I wrote stories. A lot of them. Neopets brought out my writing skills. You can read one of my pet stories here. Kay so, enough talking about my old neopet life.
Favorites & what bio wouldn't be complete without the infamous favorites section?
Interests Computer, aim, my ipod, music, soccer, field hockey, competitive swimming, piano (7 years), drawing, writing stories when I feel like it, photography (mainly macro - insects). Breeding/raising praying mantids, lizards, snakes, hermit crabs. I take an interest in bugs. They are fascinating to watch and observe.
ReligionSatan, here I come.
MusicI mostly listen to random songs, not particular bands. I listen to anything except goth/screamo/heavy metal, hardcore country, jazz, blues, classical (though I do have a few classicals on my ipod), etc. I listen to alternative, rap, hip hop, pop, all that stuff. If I would pick out a particular band, I'd go with Lifehouse or Mumm-Ra; I listen to more stuff than just whatever is on iTunes tops.
MoviesDisney is cool. I love Lion King and Toy Story. Ratatouille and Harry Potter are good also. I'm not really into bloody/scary/suspenseful movies... the scariest movie I've ever watched would probably be Disturbia or Apocalypto.
BooksThe only books I keep up to date with are the Harry Potter series, and they're finished now. But books that I liked in the past are Where the Red Fern Grows and The City of Ember.
Tv showsI rarely watch tv anymore. I watch the computer now. Before I stopped I always caught the latest episodes of The Most Extreme (ANIMAL PLANET!) and Endurance. Now, I watch Naruto online.

PetsRight now, my obsession with pets is circling around raising the praying mantid. Second in line would be hermit crabs.

pet peeve?Yes - change. Changing what something looks like, changing your personality, changing to a different place, etc. I hate it.
phobia?Yes - trypaphobia. Fear of medicinal injections. If you have a shot in your hand I won't let you get near me. I freak out, I start shaking, I cry. If you even talk about shots, my arms and legs get tingly.
yearning for thrill?Yes. I love roller coasters. I've ridden the fastest one in the world - the almighty Kingda Ka. 115 miles per hour.
disorder of any kind?Nope. Though some of my friends say I may have ADD.
obsession of any kind?Yes. With noodles, computer, and mantids. My past obsessions, in order: horses, dolphins, hermit crabs, lizards, neopets, msn, computer, subeta, aim, praying mantids.
