MAIN | BILBOGRAPHY | FILMOGRAPHY | LEGOLAS |
The Fellowship is completed by an elf: Legolas, the son of an elf king. If you understand...Lle quena i'lambe tel' Eldali? Then, Ro naa quessir ar' curucuar is the perfect description of Legolas.
An expert archer, Legolas puts aside his disdain for dwrfs and joins the fellowship. He and Gimli develop first a grudging respect and then real friendship that could be seed of reconciliation between the feuding cultures.
Legolas joined the Fellowship of the Ring as a representative of his people. He is also important to the fellowship as he possesses the keen eyesight and sharp ears characteristic of his race
The Elven Prince of Mirkwood remains loyal to the Forces of Light despite the breaking of the Fellowship. The bow of Legolas will be at Aragorn's side-to whatever end.
Orlando Bloom explains:
"Elves see dwarves as these muddy creatures who steal from the earth without giving back. But Legolas and Gimli grow to respect one another's differences. They learn to rely on each other in battle - and to laugh together."
Talking about Legolas (On Orlando's character Legolas and the way Legolas move):
"Legolas doesn't speak a lot - he prefers to let his actions speak for him. Legolas' moves are smooth and elegant, like a cat. You know how cats can jump and land steadily on their paws? That's what I'm trying to do. There's a strength in that, but it's very balletic. It's also bloody hard to do without falling over!"
(on Legolas)
"He has seen the world. He is incredibly experienced in many ways. Mind you, so he should be - after all, he is 2,931 years old!" - LotR Official Movie Guide
(on being asked to audition for Legolas)
