McLeod Ganj
Go Back to India
Dharamsala is well known as the exiled home of the Tibetan Government. The actual headquarters of the Dalai Lama is 4 km above Dharamsala. Most travelers continue to the top of the mountain to McLeod Ganj for lodging.

The Dalai Lama arrived in India in 1959 after trekking across the Himilaya. His struggle with China continues to this day;  he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1989.
McCleod Ganj, with its Tibetan influences offers a respite from the harder India travel seen in the major cities to the south.
