The bizarre relationships on the streets of Sukhumvit 4 in Thanon Sukhumvit are evident in the Nana stop off the skyrail. The typical relationship is a 40-50 year old white man from Ireland, England, Germany or the US with a bald head and a pot belly. He is usually arm in arm with a sexy teenage Thai woman with a 15 year old boy's body. Some of these men are married, some are not. They are all there using their money to purchase their brand and choice of a sexy young Thai woman. Some of these young women laugh and have fun with their sugar western man, while others can barely contain themselves with impatience to sexape the sexual servitude. The fantasy couple waiting to run back to their respective worlds, or perhaps interrupt one of the respective worlds.
Or you could go to the tourist section which is a 180 from Sumkuvit. Here the tourists are young, white and come to party and relax without getting too close to the real Bangkok. They stay in guesthouses called New Siam, Wild Orchid, or Baan Sabain and eat the curries at Roti Mataba or hit the streets of Rambutri or Phra Ahtit. For the big night out, they grab a drink at Bogynke Sky Hotel II with its 360 degree view of Bangkok from above.
Who are we to judge which is the right or wrong way to visit Bangkok_ It doesn't matter if you are there to buy sex, or there to see other tourists, or there to wander the streets at night, or to sit in the leather VIP Chairs in theaters in Siam Square, or there to meditate in Chiang Mai, or there to smoke dope on the southern islands, or there to take ectasy on Ko Pha-Ngan for the full-moon party. They are all right and they are all wrong; whatever you choose to do, it is all possible from the city of Bangkok.
