For twenty years, a singer known as Dalida, born in Cairo of Italian parents, has been leading popsinging star in Europe. Despite an international following that has applauded her performances in Japan, South America, and Canada, as well as Carnegie Hall on Wednesday evening was her American debut. The enthusiastic audience that virtually filled the hall obviosly knew her and knew her hit songs. She is a striking-looking woman with Farrah Fawcett-Majors features from teeth to blond hair that cascades over her shoulders. And she has a big voice with a robust, confident projection. She introduce one of her hits "Gigi l'Amoroso" in charmingly earnest English -reportedly the first time she had ever spoken on any stage in any language. She should do it more often, for it revealed another personality. In the end, Dalida showed that she is not just another Continental chanteuse...
