Wow, talk about being a slacker!  Well, school started this week.  I've been having a great time, travelling around the country and seeing cool things.  I'm putting some pictures up in the photo album of places I've been.  School seems like it will be okay...I can understand for the most part, but I'm concerned about writing long papers, not only because I don't know about my Spanish ability, but also because I don't have a computer down here!  I guess I can't procrastinate and type everything the night before it's due anymore...how sad!  Check out the Costa Rica Photo Album page for more infor about what I've been doing for the past three weeks!

So guess what?  Here I am!  That's right, I'm sitting in an Internet cafe in Costa Rica.  Soooo I don't have time to write much now, but so far everything's great.  It's green and nice and cool, and I have been able to survive the Spanish so far.  I'll update this later!
June 23

Okay folks, sorry I haven't updated in awhile, but honestly there's no one out there reading this anyways so it doesn't really matter.  Well, I got the Harry Potter book on Saturday and read it by Sunday afternoon, so that's all I did this weekend.  It was so fun looking forward to it and then finally reading it, but now I have nothing left to distract me from Costa Rica!  I'm still really nervous about the whole Spanish thing, but I'm also really excited to go and travel around...although it still doesn't feel real.  My two summer school classes are all right, I think as long as I don't slack off too much I'll be fine.  I'm going to Phoenix next weekend, and then two weekends later I'll be almost leaving!  Ack! I'm so scared!
June 10th

Okay, so I just started Summer Session One.  My first class was okay, it was fun to watch lots of movies (even if I couldn't understand half of them since there weren't any subtitles.  I am still just hanging out, going out to eat a lot, and occasionally going out...Last night Danielle and Teresa and I went to 80s night at Club Congress.  It was really fun.  I am really really excited but still extremely nervous about CR, I really think it's just going to get worse.  Oh well!  HP is just a week and a half away, whoo-hoo!  And then I leave in 4 weeks!  Agh!
May 31

Okay, I'm still not in Costa Rica.  BUT--I officially bought my plane ticket today!  Yay!  So I leave 45 days!  I am sooooo excited and glad.  I can't wait.  The only thing that is keeping from going crazy is I am so excited about HP (22 days left) that I'm slightly distracted from focusing too much on CR.  Other than the exciting stuff that's not happening until the middle of the summer, nothing else is going on...I'm watching lots of movies and reading some (wow, are you impressed?  Don't be, it's not Dickens or anything).  I know this is rather boring, but then again, so is my life right now...but boring is good, better than bad news, right?
May 20

Well, I'm not actually in Costa Rica yet.  I'm still in Tucson.  But...I LEAVE IN 55 DAYS!!!!!!! I am sooo excited and nervous and happy and scared, etc. all at the same time!  But I still have lots to do before then:  I started my first summer school class today, and in two weeks start two more classes.  Also, more importantly, there are only 33 days left until the new Harry Potter book comes out!!!!!   So I will definitely be keeping busy until July 14.

Still waiting to hear from Study Abroad...going in to meet with Costa Rica coordinator tomorrow to ask more questions...only 2 finals left!  Yay!
Pre-departure--middle of May

After California-May 13,2003

Well, I just got back from California.  Meg and I left at midnight on Sunday night, drove all night, and got to LA in about 5 and a half hours.  We made excellent time, mostly thanks to my amazing driving skills.  Of course, it took us two hours to make it to the beach because of my not-so-amazing ability to read directions.  We went to the Santa Monica Pier, which was very pretty.  We then spent the day at Magic Mountain, going on roller coasters and stuff.  We were really really really tired, though, and when we went back to the beach around 7 I slept in the car instead.  That's okay though, I needed it, by this time we hadn't slept since Sunday night, and it was Monday night.  We still had to drive back to Phoenix, which was okay (thankfully Meg drove some and so I was able to catch some sleep) and we both said random things in our sleep.  Then we got a flat tire on 35th Ave and I-10, not the nicest place.  When we called AAA, the guy came and took the tire off, then told us it wasn't flat.  So apparently it just looked flat to us, and the funky sounds it was making was...well, I bet he thought we imagined it.  We didn't though, cuz we heard it later when I dropped Megan off!  But of course this was at 3am on Tuesday, so who knows, maybe we did imagine it.  So that was the California trip.  Magic Mountain was fun, but we decided Disneyland is waaaaaaaay better, so next time you're trying to decide, go to Disneyland!
