Welcome to the Hello Rockview Skyline Live Bootleg Trade! To join the bootleg trade, follow these instructions:
Part One: Downloading SoulSeek First of all, you must download a program. Don't freak out, it's guaranteed to have absolutely no spyware, viruses, or harmful files included with it. I've been using it forever! Just go to http://www.slsknet.org/ and click on Download. Scroll down until you see Click Here To Download, and click it! Follow the simple installation, and ta-da! Part One is complete!
Part Two: Getting SoulSeek Up And Running This should be fairly easy. Just start SoulSeek, click Connection > Login as... and make up a username and password. This is now your SoulSeek username. SoulSeek usually logs you in and connects you every time you start the program, but it may not, so you might want to write down your username and password somewhere. Next, click on Options on the top toolbar, and then click on File Sharing Configuration. Click Select Save Folder, and choose the folder you want all the files you get to be saved to. Then, choose Add A Shared Folder. Find the folder, or create the folder, which has your Live Less Than Jake Bootlegs mp3s or files in it. Now this is where you have some choice. If you want anyone on all of SoulSeek to have access to your Shared Folder(s), right click on your Shared Folder(s) where they appear on the File Sharing Configuration screen and hit Set Folder Access, and choose Folder Is Accessible To All. If you want only people you know or people on this website to access it, choose the other option. Finally, make sure the folder that you're saving files to is set to share, you you can immidiately share files you download! If you have any trouble at all setting up anything, go to SoulSeek's beginners guide at: http://faq.slsknet.org/index.php?sid=566262&lang=en&action=artikel&cat= 266083&id=40&artlang=en
Part Three: Adding Users To Your Userlist If you selected the second option when you configured your file sharing information that said only people in your Userlist could access your shared files, this is where you put people on your userlist. On the middle row of buttons on SoulSeek, if you don't already see a Userlist on the right of SoulSeek, click User list. It should appear. To add someone's SoulSeek name to your userlist, right click on the list and press Add User. Then, simply type in their name. Go ahead and put my name in, whiteflag. Then press enter, or click outside of the typing area. I should be added to your userlist! If a red icon appears next to a name, that person is OFFLINE, and you can't access their files. If a blue icon appears, they are ONLINE, and you can right click on their name and click Browse Files.
Part Four: Downloading Files Once you have gotten to a user's list of files, go ahead and look through them. If you see something you'd like, double-click on it to set it to download. You can highlight multiple items and right click and click Download File. The file names then appear in your Transfers section. If they say Remotely Queued, that means the user the files belong to is currently transferring a file to a different user, and you'll have to wait. Right click the item name and click Get Place in line. You now are in that user's Queue. You can see your number in line by scrolling across your Transfer section until you see the Place In Line column. Now comes the hard part. Waiting. Minimize SoulSeek if you'd like and go do something else. SoulSeek runs fine on its own. Click the blue bird icon that is in your taskbar if you have SoulSeek minimized to maximize it. You can also search for files by clicking Search Files and typing in what you want. You might try Less Than Jake or Less Than Jake Live to try to find more bootlegs.
Part Five: Trading Files Now, it's only fair that if you get files from a user, they should be able to get files from you! For example, if you download files from me, and I browse your files and see some I want, I will set them to download. You can see what files are being transferred from you to someone else in the bottom section of your Transfers. It's only fair that if you get files from someone, you share them with others! If you have any questions, contact me. My AIM screen name is Fluff Shall Die, and you can also chat with me on SoulSeek if I'm online. Once my name (whiteflag) is in your userlist, right click on it and press Send Message! I may not answer right away, if I don't leave some form of contact (AIM, email, ect) so if I return and you aren't on, I can answer your question! Go to the FAQ now that you've read this. |
