Mother dearest,

Hi!  Kumusta ka na?  Enjoying your summer?  Wait no.  It is summer here, what season is it there now?

Benny was here yesterday.  He brought your letter and the money.  The exchange rate is still P8.00 so were left with only P300.00.  Ive already written to you after my graduation.  You should have received it before you get this one.  I enjoyed my graduation somehow.  Auntie Charito went with me at San Sebastian.  Hindi na ako naghanda.  Anyway, I was out the entire day because we went to the houses of our honor graduates.  I dont have a picture while I was receiving the medals because the shots were over-exposed.  The camera that Auntie Charito borrowed was broken.  Only nine pictures were developed out of the 24 shots.  Sayang nga eh.  Kung kelan pa naman graduation.

On Sunday, Lina and I went to Imus.  It was graduation at I.I. (Imus Institute) and Estrella invited us.  Telly (Estrella) went to our school just before classes ended.  I was surprised that she got there.  She said that she asked around until she reached our school.  I brought her here at home afterwards.  And so that Sunday, Lina and I went to Imus.  We went first to the house of our former landlord, the Alarcons.  Our old place is now a canteen where students hang out.  We asked Grace, Mrs. Alarcons maid, how to get to Anabu, Tellys town.  We got there easily.  Telly was surprised to see me.  She invited us to watch the graduation.  How much I wanted to go see my former classmates.  It was my last chance to see them.  But the graduation was to start at 5:00 p.m. and wont end until late at night.  So I declined her offer.  Lina and I left at 1:00 p.m.  Tellys parents and siblings were very nice to us.  They attended to us very well and gave us lots of mangoes.  Grace also gave us some.  So we went home with a bag full of mangoes.  We had a difficult time traveling to Cavite because Taft Avenue is closed.  They are setting up a Light Rail Transit (LRT) there and traffic is just bad.

I started my summer class yesterday.  This will take only a month and a half.  About the course I am taking I have decided to take Commerce.  I realized that was what I wanted ever since, di ba?  So thats final.  I might regret it if I take a different course.  I received news that I passed at U.P.  But I might not go there.  I also passed at PLM.  I will also take a scholarship test at Centro Escolar University.  I might also try UST.

By the way, what did you do during the Holy Week?  We just stayed here at home.  We went to church on Palm Sunday.  Then on Easter Sunday, Lina and I were at Imus and attended the mass there.

We finally got our report cards and all the forms that we needed.  I will copy in this letter my grades.  I am also enclosing our pictures.  There are only a few because most of the shots were over-exposed.

     Sige ha! Bye!  Take care.

Yours,
Irene

P.S.

Lina and I are in good terms.  We are not quarrelling.  Ang lalaki na namin eh.  Ay mali, ang tatanda na pala, hindi pa nga pala ako lumalaki.  Sometimes we dont mail our letters together because there are times that she has a letter for you and I dont because Im busy, or vice versa.  You have nothing to worry about.  We are all fine here.  Sige ha.
