Hello Dolly,

Hi!  How are you?  Hope you're feeling fine.  We are all okay here.  Know what?  It's already rainy season here.  There was a storm last week and it hasn't stopped raining ever since.  It has been raining every day.

We went to school last week.  There was a meeting for the parents.  I went with Auntie Charito.  Enrolment is on June 22-23 pa.  I'm sure that we will be starting school later than the others.  June 22 is the official opening of the classes.  But June 24 is a holiday, "Araw ng Maynila."  June 24 is also a holiday in Cavite, do you still remember, because of "San Juan."

It was election day on June 16.  You must have heard about this.  Like before , Marcos won.  That ninong of yours is really good.  He must have an agimat.

We haven't received the check that you sent us.  We're expecting it by next week.  Anyway, we still have some money left over from last time.  My tuition fee was only P46.50 and Lina's was P28.50.  That was a total of P75.00.  It wasn't that much.  You know what?  I already know how to sew.  I did Lina's skirt.  That was supposed to be their school project last year but they didn't have the chance to even start it.  I was very glad that I finished the whole thing.  I even put a pocket.  Then I hemmed the 4 blouses that you sewed last year.  We get 2 each.  I had to repair my blouses because they were quite big for me.

We are all ready for school.  We bought all the supplies that we need.  We are just waiting to be enrolled on Monday.  What about there in your place.  Do they also have schools there?  Do they also start in June?

I'm glad that you got the scissors that we sent you.  We were quite worried because Paulino said that the customs in Vancouver is very strict.  Auntie Charito and Lina bought the T-shirts, slippers and bakya.

You mentioned that you have a new part time.  Please take care of yourself and don't work too hard.  You also said that Ella is offering you another job.  It's up to you to choose.  But please choose the easier one for you.  I'm pretty sure that the pay will be quite the same.

You were asking where I would want to go to college.  I will try to get a scholarship at PLM (Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila).  They are giving out forms at school.  Uncle Donato might be able to help me.  Once, Auntie Charito and I went to his place.  He told us that Tina might skip a grade and go straight to Grade Five.  She was the Second Honor student in Grade Three.  If she passes the exam, she might get bumped to Grade Five.  Then he told me that he might be able to help me apply for college scholarships.  If I don't get any scholarships, my plan is to get a two-year course first, and then I will later on shift to Commerce.  Both Melissa and Sophia are taking Commerce.  Mel is in CEU and Pia is in U.E.

Uncle Delfin was here last week.  He hasn't bought any school supplies for his kids yet.  I so much pitied him.  I gave him some of the pencils and pens that you sent us.

I am attaching in this letter our measurements.  Ma, if will be sewing pants for us, please make them denim pants.  Well, only if it won't be too hard on you.

O sige ha.  It's already late.  I will go upstairs now.  Uncle Gene might come down if he hears that I'm still here downstairs.  Bye.

Lots of love,
Irene
