The aptly named 'Flying Bogey' is the website for a novice rally team based in Somerset.

The project began at the beginning of 2005 when Chris Hellings and his brother Tim decided to go after their childhood ambition of becoming rally competitiors.

Since then they have acquired a car (all be it green!), got themselves a license and are entering the 2006 ASMC Sealed Surface Rally Championship.

Latest News - Exeter Stages 'Lessons Learned' (03/11/2006)

Yet another event unscathed for the Flying Bogey - that makes 3 out of 3! A few minor adjustments had been made to the Bogey prior to this event with a newly polybushed front-end and a refitted exhaust. The boys have also got a swanky new gearbox sat in the garage but fitting will take place over Xmas.

The Exeter Stages is the boys most local event to-date. It was where Chris first got the bug for getting involved, and they have spectated at the venue many times. Hence, they had high hopes of a good day.

The car flew through scrutineering without a hitch and it was looking like it was gonna be their first outing in the wet. Tyre choice wouldn't really play a part as they went for the budget option of re-using some intermediate Kumho's they used earlier in the year!

The weatherman got it right and the opening stages were very slippery. It took Chris a little bit of time to get used to the difference in grip but they were happy with the first run through....read full story
