Chapter 07
Chapter 7 --- Shae's Story I sat up gasping for air. It was the same dream again. It was getting harder and harder to sleep at night because of it. Luckily though, it woke me up while Renkon was still asleep. A rare moment true but one I can really enjoy. Even though the sleeping pills don't react enough to make him fall asleep, but it keeps him asleep throughout the night. I turned around to get a better look at Renkon. He looks so much nicer when he sleeps. Especially with his mouth hanging open and him snoring, yet lightly. Its times like this that make me feel warm inside about Renkon. Usually I consider him annoyance but other times it seemswell I'm just rambling. Sighing I laid back against the over sized pillow, which had happened to be bigger then my head. I don't know why Renkon likes such big pillows, they just get thrown offwell most of them ~.~;; I wonder what that dream means anyway. I know it has to do something with darknesswhich it always starts out inthen arrows, then a big explosion. I looked towards Renkon. Well maybe the explosion has to do with the Saiyajins, they seem to like to blow things up so very much. Heh. Suddenly Renkon started to stir in his sleep, his tail going around my waist as usual, but fortunately he didn't wake up. I had to stifle a laugh though, his position reminded me of a sleeping child. Since he was laying on his left side he had his left arm stretched out with his right arm curled up to where he had his chin resting on his hand. I had to admit, he was handsome for a planet conquering prince with a bad attitude. I wonder if his brother was like that too. Probably worse. When I woke back up it was morning and Renkon had already gone. I lazily climbed out of bed and got dressed for the day. I sat in front of a large mirror that hung in the bathroom near the pool-tub and brushed my hair. I don't know why, but it seems to me that Renkon likes my hair down because he always manages to get it out of the braid at night, sometimes without me knowing. After finishing the last few strands of the braid I headed in to the kitchen to fix breakfast. A knock came to the door, followed by several other bangs to go with it. I went to the door and opened it yet not really caring who it was. To my surprise it was Shae, by the look on her face it seemed she was pretty surprised to see me answer the door. "Where's Renkon?" she asked in her slight confusion. "He left who knows how long ago," I replied. "Why?" She looked at me again in a bit of surprise. What's with Saiyajin and asking questions? Was it a bad thing? "You know of course," she said. "That curiosity killed the cat." "Yeah but the knowledge brought her back," I replied sharply but still trying not to be rude. Shae has yet to actually be rude to me so why do I have to be rude to her..yet "Point taken," she said with a small smilewell smirk actually. "May I come in since Renkon isn't here?" "Why?" "Cause. One I can wait for him instead of chasing around the building. Two, I can get to know you a bit better. I like your wit." "Well with a compliment with that I see no harm in letting you in." I stood to the side to allow her thorough. After closing the door I followed her to the living room where she had sat on the couch-thing. "Well, Nellie wasn't it, how do like Vegetasei so far?" Now it's my turn to look confused. "What in the world is that suppose to mean? I don't like it her at all. I want to go back home." She looked at me for a moment, then smiled. Why does she smile at a comment like that? "I figured as much. I guess it was pretty silly of me to ask such a thing." I humphed and sat down at the table. But a thought came to my mind. "Shae." "Yeah." "Do you think you can tell me what you and Renkon were arguing about the other day?" She gave another confused look but smiled again. "It was just an old subject that had been brought up by accident." "That's not going to work. Renkon gave the exact same excuse. Tell, now." Then it was my turn to be surprised as she busted out laughing, not in an evil way that I've heard Renkon do but a laugh of fondness. 'What?" "It's just that you remind me of an old friend. The subject of the argument as I should say." "Huh?" "I'll explain. You see, I once had a real good friend. I know it seems kinda weird that a Saiyajin actually admits to having a friend but why not." "People call me weird too but not because I have a friend, just other things." "Well the reason why people find that this friendship was weird was because of the difference in ranks." "Ranks?" "Yes. Saiyajin have ranks, the elite, then there is the first, second, and third class. I was at the time a first class and my friend was a third class." "People here judge others by what rank they are in?" "Yes." "Sounds like a minor version of the civil segregation to me." "I didn't get what you just said but let me continue. Her name was Helen, a strange thing for a Saiyajin to be called." "Helen sounds like a normal name. In fact, my own name is from the name Helen." "What do you mean?" "You see on Earth Helen means torchlight, and Nellie...well Nell means light. Get it?" "I guess so." "Good, now continue" "Well I had palace duties at the time and sometimes when she was off duty she'd come and hang around me. Sometimes we'd train, we were able to raise in the ranks too. She succeeded in becoming a first class while I became an elite. She soon became a guard in the palace. Then" "Then what?" "Heh. Renkon had happen to meet her. Their first meeting wasn't very...umpromising. But as the years went on Renkon and her became friends." "Renkon..friends..whoah. New concept! Cool!" "But..." "But what?" "That friendship I have to admit went into what you humans call love." "What?! Ok explain! Is this girl still on the planet cause if she was she'd probably be really pissed at Renkon by now!" "Well you don't have to worry about her." She looked away from me, her head was slightly bowed. "Why?" "See died in the last major war that the Saiyajin was in. One of major enemies had killed her. Ever since Renkon refuses to discuss about her. When she is he happens to blow." "Oh sorry." Man, I never really thought Renkon would be in any type of thing like that. I wonder why he doesn't talk about her. Maybe I shouldn't tease him so much after all. "Shae what are you doing here?" came Renkon's voice from behind me. "Waiting for you." She stood and met his gaze. Renkon's famous scowl was on his face. He looked at me and snarled. "Well if you stay here you're going to miss your flight to Lyona." "Right."
