Bonito Bel Canto
| Vocal artists Marco Bonito (Bass I, Tenor II) and Susan Benner-Bonito (Soprano I and II) ) are now providing their singing and teaching talents to the New England area, having relocated from California to Massachusetts. As an outstanding performer of opera and oratorio, Marco is available for solo work, ensemble reinforcement, drama coaching, and voice overs. He has performed over thirty operas and musicals and knows nearly twenty roles. He has performed with Connecticut Opera, Eugene Opera, Scholar Opera, West Bay Opera, North Bay Opera, Oakland Opera, Juneau Lyric Opera, Music From Bear Valley Opera, Brahms Singers, Louis Magor Singers, McGilvary Chorale, Schola Cantorum, Mostly Madrigals, San Francisco City Chorus, None of the Above, Heritage Chorale, New Haven Chorale, Middletown Chorale, Worcester Chorus, Evergreen Symphony, and San Francisco Symphony. He has toured Europe, China, and the Pacific Northwest, is recorded on two London/Decca CDs (including a Grammy winner), and is within the soundtrack of the movie The Godfather, Part III. In New England he has performed in Storrs, Hartford, New Haven, Middletown, Boston, Augusta, Worcester, Framingham, Lincoln, and Concord. He has participated in local vocal pedagogy workshops and has judged vocal competitions, including screening "American Idol" contestants for FOX. Marco has worked toward several David Aronson publication wins, received a Eugene Shoemaker award for outreach, and a Blue Pencil award for communications excellence. He presently works as tenor section leader and assistant conductor at First Parish in Lincoln. He recently served on an AGMA national committee for membership and membership relations, with desire to steward and improve professionalism within the industry, to the mutual benefit of artists and their employers. Most recently, he co-created an opera workshop at Lowell House, Harvard University, and stage directed a full production of Giacomo Puccini's Turandot featuring two different endings to Act III, Franco Alfano's original (uncut) Milan completion and the more familiar (Arturo Toscanini-cut) Rome version. Susan is an accomplished soloist (saxophone and voice) and is available for solo work, ensemble reinforcement, vocal pedagogy, and musicianship training. Susan also provides experiential education for youths through her "Adventures in Music" scholastics program. Susan is the music director at United Parish in Upton and faculty member at Indian Hill Music School and Saint Mark's School. She is certified by the Kindermusik organization and the state of Massachusetts. Both Susan and Marco have achieved levels 1 and 2 of the Estill Voice Training System. Susan offers personalized individual vocal music instruction at our Mendon home and at her Upton church, and can provide ensemble and class voice also. Susan is a highly-regarded member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) and an expert trainer of voicecraft. Both Marco and Susan have been long-time members of the American Guild of Musical Artists (AGMA), a professional performer's union of singers and dancers.
