Regular verbs - Imperative mood

 

The imperative mood is used mostly to give orders, instructions and to make resquests.


Instructions

Step 1. Break off the verb into stem and infinitive ending.

Step 2. Add inflectional endings to each verb according to mood, verb tense, person (first, second, third person), number (singular or plural) and, most importantly, to conjugation (first, second and third conjugations).

Note: The imperative mood only has the persons tu, você, nós, vós e vocês.

Imperative Mood - Modo imperativo


The imperative mood in Portuguese can be far more complicated than in English, which would only use forms such as Drink! or Let's drink to express the imperative, while you could use 5 (five) different forms in Portuguese, depending on the person you refer to.
