Play practices are back in full swing this vacation, with costume shopping scheduled for Wednesday. The screen test turned out to be a big scam, which is too bad for our wannabe stars.  Well I think thats all for news this week. NOTHING else important is happening. No birthdays or anything.  Nope, not a single 18th birthday will be celebrated this week.  Especially by anyone named Dean Palmer, and most definitely not on the 25th. Thank you.

                            Intro
On March 15th and 16th, prepare yourself for a show the likes of which Notre Dame has never seen. Boxing is making a huge comeback in the year 2002 with Will Smith's movie Ali just out, Mike Tyson back in the ring (if he can get licensed), and plenty of Pay-Per-View specials in the works. The world is ready for some action and the timing is just right to bring a play to ND about... well, a boxer.

But not just any boxer.  In our comedy, we have  a New Jersey fighter named Joe, who gets accidentally sent to heaven before he can win the heavyweight championship. Chaos ensues as the race is on to find Joe a new body.

Are you thinking to yourself.. "Heeyyy..this story sounds familiar!"?

Well, it should.  The old, "got sent to heaven before I should have" plot has been circulating for over 60 years.

It was first seen in the 1930's movie "Here Comes Mr. Jordan", and carried out for decades afterwards in various different formats. However this original version is the one which we will put on stage.  Since then, it has had a 1940's sequel called "Down to Earth", a 1978 remake called "Heaven Can Wait" (with football in place of boxing), and most recently a Chris Rock movie called "Down to Earth" (where he plays a comedian killed before he can play the Apollo).

Without further ado, let me introduce some of our talent, in true boxing style.

In the green and gold corner, weighing in at 150 lbs., Shane Quinn stars in the funniest comedy this side of eternity. With a hilarious plot revolving around love, murder, and of course, boxing, Heaven Can Wait is an angelic event which cannot be missed.  Seniors Logan Johnson, Joe Illingworth, and Amanda Jean Nowack lead a cast of over two dozen, in a play completely run by and for the students. Set in three lavish locals, Dean Palmer heads stage management to bring our scenes to life.

Thanks for visiting the site, and please check the play out.  We have actors from each grade, so please come to support them.  If you are interested in an extra part, there are openings, so please see me ASAP. Dates are set for March 15th and 16th,  so keep for ears peeled (if ears can be peeled) for related morning announcements.
