Hmm, I was quite hesitant to write something about my sister Aems - hesitant
not because I don't like to but because she's trying to let me do it right away. I
felt like I was again in school because I was given a deadline for it. Kidding
aside, I've got no choice in the first place 'coz who else would write something
about her from a sister's point of view if it won't be ME? (We spent more years
together compared to my brother, where she also shared a different kind of relationship
with him.)
So here I am...
We were once like twins during our prep years because we used to wear
the same type and style of clothes, even from the styles of our hair down to the shoes
that we wore then. Worst was, Aems would cry if she found out that she had a different
from mine. Would you believe that we wore the same style of dress
'til I was in Grade 5? But as we grew up, things had changed.
Aems grew up as a playful kid who loved to play and play, which was the reason why she
was not able to maintain her standing in class. On the lighter side, this
kid was able to gain confidence during her early years in school because of her
involvements in extra-curricular activities. I can't really forget the time she won in
a singing contest in school and was even tasked to do the introduction of the guest
speaker during her Kindergarten graduation ceremony. She was able to represent her
class in declamation and oratorical contests. When at home during our childhood days,
we used to play games with our cousins, although sometimes we're like cats and dogs
because we often argue. I could really say that my sister had enjoyed much of her
childhood years, a happy child at that- because of her exposures, because of me
(of course, I was her playmate too) and also because of the proper guidance of our
beloved parents.
We lived separately when I pursued my schooling in college.
I was away for 4 years but we would get to see each other during vacations and
semestral breaks. Well, Amor is a thoughtful sister because she would send me cards
and letters, not to mention the things she wanted me to buy for her. Whenever we
had the chance to be together, we loved to stroll with our bikes and go to the beach
(when in Baganga) or watch movies together or stroll in the malls. During her high school
years, the once boyish kid had turned into a pretty lady. I was even shocked that she's
quite bigger than me physically. In those times, I heard her shared about the friendships
she built with some special persons in her life. But somehow we never had the chance to
share much of ourselves 'coz we lived miles apart from each other. Arguments were
lessened. I was aware of the thought that we're no longer kids.
When she sets her foot in college, I observed and witnessed more her, the
"inside" of her. She loves to stay in her room. I guess her room is her most favorite
part of the house. She enjoys listening to music and loves to manipulate our PC
(just like my Kuya). She loves to write stuffs about anything (just like me). We would
just argue when we're watching TV together because she loves to watch the sitcoms at
the AXN channel (again, just like my Kuya). She's also the "maarte"-type in the house
who's not into veggies but meat (no wonder, she looks bigger than me). Would you
believe that a special meaty viand would be cooked just for her if we have a veggie
recipe? On the lighter side, I believed that she has grown to be a flexible and a
sociable person because of the many friends she have of different ages. She can easily
gain friends and gets to treasure them so much. She loves to hang out with them during
weekdays and even during weekends. One thing I admired about her is her punctuality
which she had developed during the early years of her life. She would always come
before the time when having her appointments and I guess she was never late in her
classes. She's also the type of person who loves to sing and loves to collect things
of interests, like a collection of tapes and CD's from her favorite artists and she even
has a collection of Coca- Cola stuffs in her bedroom. When Amor is in the house, she
loves to sleep, sleep and sleep (bumabawi lang daw siya ng tulog).
Amor is one great person.. She's strong and firm with what she believed into.
Whenever she has a problem, she tries to solve it on her own. She's quite a secretive-type
though, 'coz I never get to hear her innermost secrets and thoughts. You just could tell
how she feels with the kind of look she has in her face. She can also be funny who loves
to crack her jokes just to make you laugh, even if you have that frown in your face.
'Kinda "makulit" and turns to be "malambing" at times, especially if she would ask great
favors from my parents and me. She can also be serious (sometimes, mas serious
pa nga sya sa akin). She loves to listen with a heart which is one of her great
assets.
My sister is a dreamer. She has great dreams that she wanted to achieve. She's a
brave person who's not afraid of taking the risks. With the courage and the deter-
mination she have, I guess all her dreams will come true. I could never ask for more
from a person like my sister. She's been doing her part well in the family as well as
to the people around her. She's been endowed with a gift of good values that are
visible in her. Truly, those are among the reasons why a lot of people love her so
much.
