In the classroom I have a behavior system that seems to work well. The first day of school the class and I set up the classroom rules. I like them to set the rules up so they feel like they are their rules that they made up on their own. I stress that teamwork makes the dream work in our classroom.
I have set up an Apple Tree with apples on it. Each apple has a child's name on it. The child gets two verbal warnings if they are breaking a classroom rule. If they still have a hard time making the right choice I will drop their apple to a warning. Their apple falls from the "plump and juicy" section to the "falling fast" section. The next step is the "bumpy and bruised section. This is where they lose five minutes off their recess. The last section is "applesauce". This is where they lose all of recess and a note goes home.
If they keep their apple up all day long they get a sticker towards their sticker chart. When their sticker chart is all filled up they receive a prize from the "treasure chest".
