Aromatherapy for Babies
Use only 100% pure essential oils, the bottle should state the country of origin & the Latin name, this, together with the price, will give you some indication of the quality of the oil.  To give you an idea of what I mean, I prefer to use French Lavender (Lavandula augustifolia) rather than Bulgarian Lavender (Lavandula officinalis) the French has a more gentle fragrance but it is more expensive. However I think that once you have tried them you will agree that the French is much nicer!
"Commercial baby products are usually petroleum based, which makes them good for protecting the skin from water & urine, but not necessarily intrinsically good for the baby's skin.  ... however, we use a base oil which is good for skin and essential oils which ... treat eczema and cradle cap, inflammation and teething problems, while boosting the whole immune system, ...  It also has a marvellously calming effect on the nervous system, and babies become more contented.  Massage over the whole of baby's body but avoid the eyes & genitals.

Baby's Massage Oil:  For a relaxed and totally chilled babe!
50 mls Sweet Almond Oil
(Prunus amygdalus)
Add 1 drop of each of the following :-
Chamomile Roman (Anthemis nobilis)
French Lavender (Lavandula augustifolia)
Geranium
(Pelargonium graveolens)
Sleeping Problems:-
To establish a good sleeping pattern put
1 drop of French Lavender (Lavandula augustifolia) and 1 drop of Chamomile Roman (Anthemis nobilis) into a diffuser or vapouriser, light or switch on about half an hour before bedtime, close the door so that the vapours stay within the room.  Do not leave all night, remove once you put the baby to bed.  Alternatively add 1 drop of French Lavender (Lavandula augustifolia) and 1 drop of Chamomile Roman (Anthemis nobilis) to a small bowl of hot water, and place under the cot, again remove when you put the baby to bed.
Teething Problems
Use 1 drop of French Lavender (Lavandula augustifolia) OR 1 drop of Chamomile Roman (Anthemis nobilis), diluted in 5 mls of Sweet Almond oil (Prunus amygdalus), or use the contents of 1 capsule of Evening Primrose oil (which is approx 5 mls).  Massage over the jaw line and neck area, taking great care to avoid the mouth and eyes.
I used this method on both of my babies with good results!

I used to put 1 or 2 drops of French Lavender (Lavandula augustifolia) onto a tissue and placed it in the cot, near my daughter's head, and in times of desperation I massaged 1 drop of French Lavender (Lavandula augustifolia) into my own hands and then stroked her temples, forehead and hands - I'm not sure if it helped her, but it certainly calmed me down in times of extreme stress!
