Toucan and Dodo

Pre-instructional:

The first one turned and squawked at me!
Three little toucans sitting in a row
The second one said �I�ll flap my wings, watch me go!�
Three little toucans sitting side by side
The third one said �my bright beak, I open wide!�

Procedure 1:
a. TSW predict what happens in Jungle Walk by Nancy Tafuri
b. TTW read the story.
c. TSW answer comprehension questions about the story.

Procedure 2:
a. TTW tell the students facts about toucans and a dodo .
b. TSW tell what they have learned.
c. TTW write the student�s answers on the board.

Procedure 3:
a. TTW give each student a coloring page of a toucan.
b. TSW decorate the toucan with construction paper, colors, or paint.
c. TTW display the student�s work.
