Day 1

Pre-instructional:

TSW name the four major oceans.
TTW ask the students what they know about fish
TTW review over vocabulary words for Rainbow Fish.
TSW sing Did You Ever See a Fishy.

Did you ever see a fishy,

Did you ever see a fishy

Procedure 1:
a. TSW will predict what Rainbow Fish by Marc Pfister is about.
  b. TTW read the story to the class.
c. TSW answer questions about the story.

Procedure 2:
a. TTW show the students a picture of fish.
b. TTW tell the students facts about fish.
c. TSW tell what they have learned.

Procedure 3:
a. TTW give each student a fish pattern.
b. TSW use watercolors to paint the fish. TSW can also choose different colors of glitter to
     decorate the fish. TSW make sure one scale is silver.
c. TTW display the student�s work.

Vocabulary for Rainbow Fish

ordinary- usual  scales- outer part of a fish  shade- how dark a color is
wise- smart   shimmering- lights that flicker
emerge- to come up
peculiar-weird 
prized- very important
whizzed- to move real fast with a sound
ink- the black or blue stuff that comes out of a pen

Procedure 3:
a. TSW make a fish out of the sole of their shoe.
b. TSW trace the sole of their shoe.
c. TSW cut out shapes for tail and fins.
d. TSW glue the tail and fins to the body.
