| I was sitting in a box. A big cardboard box that was taller than me. You know, the kind that folds at both ends. I was a bit content, yet a little bored, scared and lonely. It was an empty box with just me in it. I heard a knock. I stood up and tried to see out the crack at the top of the box, but I wasn't tall enough. I stood on my tippy-toes, but still couldn't see out. Another knock! No voice just those knocks. The knock was gentle, more like a tapping. One, two, three,, but nothing else! The knocks continued for days. I sat and wondered, what is this on the other side. The knocks were calling to me. I could no longer ignore them. I had to see. so I decided to break free. I tried to run into the walls, but only bounced off. I tried to claw away the box, but could only get little pieces. Finally I was able to bulk up my muscles, (kind of like the Incredible Hulk, and eventually I was able to break the box away from me. Yet, I still wasn't free. The box had been wrapped in chains. Heavy chains, that were now around me! I could see you though! You, who knocked so gently. You seemed so close, yet far away. You were trying to tell me somehting. I could see your mouth move, but couldn't hear your words. It seemed urgent. I had to get to you. I had to know! With the chains weighing me down, I struggled to reach you. Why didn't you come to me? Why didn't you help? Your facial expression seemed to care. Seemed sincere. So why didn't you come rescue me from those chains? I continued to move towards you. I used all my might. The chains were heavy upon my shoulders, exhausting my strength. I finally reached you. Exhausted, I crumbled at your feet. You waited patiently, but still did not help. You stood there in silence. A peaceful look on your face. A look of knowing. When I finally regained my strength, I stood uo before you and asked what it is you must tell me. And you said " I love you" . "Ich Liebe Dich" |
