This year it was easier to get tickets to the games I wanted - now that I'm in the Warming House. But the one day that tickets were on sale on-line, I still had to prioritize which games I wanted to go to. Even though I could buy 2 tickets to each game, I couldn't always get 2 next to each other. So my priority was both Dallas games, Vancouver, Colorado, Detroit, and Anaheim. Then I got some to some extra games for some of my friends that had favorite opponents - or who could go on days that I couldn't go. Overall I saw 2 pre-season games, the Super Skills competition, the All-Star practice, and seven Wild home games and one Red Wings game in Detroit - and a whole bunch of college games and one high school game. Below are the highlights from the Wild and NHL action.
Kristi, Dewey and I went to the first pre-season game for Kristi's birthday. Afterwards we headed over to Tom Reid's and had our annual photos with Tom. Great to be back at a hockey game, too bad the Wild lost - but it's going to be tough without some key players from last year - and Gabby and Pascal holding out for more money.
9/21/03 9-1 Wild victory over NY Rangers in Preseason Game Recap
Kristi, Dewey, Jordan and Spencer joined me for the second pre-season game against the NY Rangers. Spencer couldn't keep his eyes off the ice - he studied the game and the players very closely. The Rangers were weary from a long road trip and the Wild took advantage and scored a franchise high 9 goals. We desperately wanted the tenth one and kept chanting 10-10-10!
10/24/03 4-0 Detroit Red Wings victory over Dallas Stars in Detroit Game Recap
Once again I drove out East to visit my brother's family and stopped in Detroit for a professional conference, and once again I got tickets to the Joe to watch the Red Wings and Dallas Stars play. Dallas forgot to show up for the game and the Wings skated circles around them and shut them out 4-0. This was the first time I had seen Dominic Hasek in goal - and the Wings looked weird in their red uniforms at home, but that's what the NHL decided to do this year - dark jerseys at home.
