KANSAS TRIP NOTES

(Continued)
August 23rd--29th---We spent the week in Emporia Kansas.  It was a week of relaxation and time to spend some time with an old friend from high school and her family.  The Lord used it to open up alot of ministry opportunities also.

August 24th--- We got to Gridley Kansas this evening and decided to spend the night in the park.  Jim and I took a walk, looking for a restroom.  This truck came barreling around the corner and we froze.  It was heading right for us!!!  Then it stopped.  It was my friend Cindy and her husband from Emporia.  We had forgotten a bottle of soap and they brought it to us. (40 miles)  It  was really good talking to them..  It was a time away from the house where we were able to talk freely and really minister to them.   We prayed for Cindy's  healing.  She had Multiple Scerosis.  While we were praying she stopped shaking.  Praise God for His healing touch!  Curtis also made some decisions for Christ--to be the man of God and head of his household.  Pray that God continues to work in their lives.
After Cindy and Curtis left, we realized that we were in the teen hangout.  Several groups of young people came by to visit.  We were able to share Christ with them.  The last group, however, as soon as they realized what we were talking about eased away quickly.  After everyone had left and we were starting to lay down for the night, a car drove by.  They yelled out satanic slurrs.  They did this four or five times.  Then we decided that was enough.  We prayed a hedge of protection around the park and that no one else would enter.  We also prayed that the car would stop circling and it did.  Then we laid down and slept in peace.

September 3rd---We got to Independence about 1:30.  We had just passed a Kentucky Fried Chicken place and stopped to talk about whether we wanted to eat lunch there or not.  This woman--Claira--came out of a real estate office and asked us if we wanted some cold water.  We went in and were able to share with her and the employees in the office.  After about an hour, Claira called her brother-in-law who is Pastor of the Frontline Baptist Church.  We rode out to the church and he opened up the building for us.  We stayed there for a couple of days and encouraged him and his wife.  We helped them with  building  their new sanctuary while we were there.

September 5th---When we got to the last town in Kansas--Caney--a newspaper lady caught up with us.  Claira, back at the real estate office in Independence had called her.  She interviewed us and took our picture for the Good News weekly paper.  We shared with a couple of other people there in the park that were curious about what we were doing.
We rode on to Bartlesville OK.  See

August 31--September 1st---We arrived in Yates Center Kansas and spent Saturday exploring the town and talking to alot of people.  On Sunday we fellowshipped at the Assembly of God Church in town.  After church, we went home with a family for lunch.  They were painting their house so we offered to help.  Jim and I primed some boards.  Doug gave Jim a nice fat paint brush and gave me a thin one.  We were priming and Doug came up behind Jim and said, "I want to trade you."  Jim thought, "No, I like this fat brush."  He turned around, and Doug was standing there with a nice bike shot bike, and said, "I want to trade you for the little green one."  Jim's mouth dropped open.  (When we left Denver, Ashley had a 24" bike.  We had been praying for a larger one.  Also Jim had been pulling his trailer with a heavy bike and we were praying for a lighter one for him.  This bike answered both prayers.  Jim gave Ashley his bike, since she isn't pulling a trailer and took the bike store bike which makes his trailer pull so much easier to pull.) Praise God for His provision!

September 2nd---We met a couple from England today that was bicycling across the world.  He was 62 and she was 58.  They had been riding for three years and had gone 25,000 miles.  They had ridden in Europe, the middle east, Australia and other places.  We were able to share Christ with them.
We arrived in Altoona about 5:00.  We went to the park to see if there was camping.  We found that there wasn't.  We stopped at a little Baptist Church to see about setting up our tents in their yard.  The kids stayed there, while Jim and I rode up to the store to see how we could get ahold of the Pastor.  On the way to the store, we saw another church.  We knew that we were supposed to call this one instead.  Jim did, and the Pastor said that he would meet us there.  We went back to get the kids.  When we got to the Church--New Covenant Church--the pastor told us that he had a mobile home on the church grounds for missionaries to stay in, and he would like for us to stay there.  When we went in, Ashley told us that she had prayed for a bed and a shower, but this was much more than she had expected!  While we were there, we were able to minister to some people in a N.A. meeting.  God will meet your needs above and beyond what you can ask or think, when you trust Him!
