KANSAS TRIP NOTES: These are highlights of our bicycle trip across America. There is no way that we can relate EVERYTHING that has happened out here. We talk to dozens of people each day about the Lord---at stores, parks, along the side of the road, everywhere that we go. The following are examples of some of the awesome ways that the Lord is moving out here.
August 14th---We set up camp in Blue Rapids Kansas. The Lord told us to visit the Baptist Church in town. When we arrived, they weren't having church but a business meeting. They had just lost their pastor and were trying to decide what to do. When we showed up, they changed their agenda and had us share what God is doing out here. We encouraged them to step out of their comfort zone, and even though they are few in number to move out into the community and effect lives for Christ. This handful of believers can make a major mark on Blue Rapids Kansas, if they are obedient and walk in the purpose that God has for them. August 15th---We rode into Waterville Kansas this morning. We stopped at a garage sale on the edge of town. We were able to minister to Patty. We prayed with her and God healed her of some hurts that she had in her life. When we entered the center of town, people started coming out of their shops to see us. We were able to minister to quite a few people there. The newspaper lady chased us down, interviewed us and took our picture. We have found that even though a town is small, God still wants to do a BIG work there.
August 17th--20th (cont) On Monday, Jim and Christopher did some work on the front of the Salvation Army Store. They scraped off glue and glass from the second story. About half way through, Pastor Johnny asked Jim to go next door to the bike store with him. They found an awesome bike trailer and Johnny said that the Lord had laid it on his heart to buy it for us! And if that wasn't enough, the bike store donated mylar inserts and thorn resistant tubes for all the bikes and trailers! God does above and beyond what we can even ask or think! Praise God for His provision! August 21st--It was hard to say good bye to the Harsh family. They were a great encouragement to us, and we know that God is going to do great things through them, as they walk in the call that He has for them. We rode on a back road toward Alta Vista. There were alot of hills but not as bad as if we had taken 177. About 7:00 we were still about 12 miles from Alta Vista. We were riding by a farm house and a woman (Betty) came out and asked if we needed some water. We rode into her yard and her husband, John and son Willie came out. They were so excited to see what our family was doing. We were the most exciting thing to come by their house in a long time. They wanted to share us with the neighborhood. They called their friends and we had church right there in their yard. We then spent the night in their yard. See more of Kansas. |
