| Easy Love Chapter: 5 It's Never Easy Potter Bed and Breakfast Dawson sighed as he stood by the white picket fence looking up at the house that once held his once believed soul mate. He smiled at the irony. For a long time he just thought of her as his friend. His best friend that he could talk to about anything and in his mind he never imagined that would change. And then with one kiss it did. His whole world was turned upside down as his best friend became his girlfriend and the first love of his teenage life. A love that had overcome him and practically destroyed him. This girl who was once his confidant somehow merged into his soul mate and that almost ripped him apart. And now now he didnt know what she was to him. They werent friends but they had shared too much to be enemies. It was so hard now and yet here he was not really sure why telling her this was so important. Maybe because her and Pacey never did him the courtesy. Not that it would have mattered. He still would have felt betrayed and hurt maybe thats why he was here. He didnt want her to go through what he went through. Honesty was still important to him. He was so caught up in his thoughts that he didnt hear the screen door open or see her step out onto the porch. Her dark tresses were pulled back into a tight ponytail and her hands were shoved inside the pockets of her jeans. Dawson? What are you doing here? She asked skeptically. He stared at her for a moment with a half grin. I uh I was just thinking Do you have a minute? He asked. She nodded. Do you want to come inside? He was about to refuse when something inside him stopped him. Perhaps it was the thought of Andie and the way she made him believe that he could do things that seemed almost impossible. So he smiled and shook his head. Yeah. I think I need to come out of the cold. He remarked. His statement had meaning on so many levels he thought as he followed her inside. I thought that I might find you here. She stated walking over to stand beside him at the bridge. He looked over at her with a smile. Now why is that? She shrugged. I knew that once you found my secret getaway you would automatically take it over and make it your own. She retorted lightly. What can I say? You always have the best of everything. If I can somehow confiscate it I will. He stared down into her brown eyes for a second before sighing. So what do I owe the honor of you seeking me out? She took a moment or so not understanding where the butterflies in her stomach were coming from. Why was this so hard for her? Why did she think this would change anything between them? Because she would be a fool if she believed otherwise and she knew it. Nothing could be the same. Just like sex, love and the possibility of it changes everything. He had once told her that and now she truly understood what he meant. You know weve been doing really well lately with the whole honesty and truth thing. She began with a quirky smile. He nodded knowing where this was going. Yeah we have. And you know it took us a long time to get back to this place where we can be completely honest with one another after that summer apart and everything. She sighed deeply and let a nervous laugh escape her. And I wouldnt want to lose that between us by being honest with you. I would like to think that I can tell you something extremely difficult and still know that what weve established will still be there by the end of this conversation. If what weve built is authentic then it shouldnt matter. He stated softly. She shook her head. Thats not always the case. Look at you and Dawson, although Im not giving up hope on the two of you. She remarked. The last voice of optimism He let the fragment hang between them. She bowed her head and took in a shaky breath. Okay the thing that I want to tell you the thing that I want to say is that well, I know that I told you that Dawson coming to the airport wasnt a Homeric event but in all truth She began ready to confess when he cut in. I know. He stated overriding her voice and stopping her in mid-sentence. She looked up at him with wide brown eyes. What? She asked confused. I said I know. I know about you and Dawson. What about me and Dawson? He sighed. That what you have is something that is important to you and to him. I know that him coming to that airport meant more then you wanted to admit to yourself. I know that he means something to you. He whispered softly. She stood there not sure of how he knew but glad that it was finally out there in the open. How? She asked. Does it matter? He retorted softly. She shrugged. I didnt want you to find out this way. I mean I wanted to tell you face to face. I didnt want you to think that it was something that I had to hide or something that I was ashamed of. Why? Because I owed you that much. After what happened, I owed it to you to tell you. She replied. Unlike, me and Joey who sneaked around stealing kisses behind our best friends back? He asked sarcastically. |
