Traditional Bowing - Zarei
Rei
         Put your two hands, palms facing downwards in font of you, flat on the floor (figure 2.1) and bend your back until your head almost touches your hands (figure 2.2).

         You you will perform the same bow twice, once facing the shinzen of Master Otsuka and Master Shintani and the other with the students facing the instructors. Note that the class starts by the bowing of the shinzen and ends with the bowing of the shinzen, meaning the bow exchanged between all the karatekas will be after the bow to the shinzen at the beginning of the class but will be before the shinzen bow at the end of the class.
         Straighten up your back, put your hands on your thighs, palms facing downwards and wait (figure 2.3)

          After the karatekas that are higher than you in rank have stood up, raise your right leg first (figure 2.4). Raise your second leg and stand in
hachiji dachi.
