About the site's author My name is Alexey Zborovskiy. I was born in Belorussia (former part of former Soviet Union) in 1973. My formal education include 5 years of studying Biology (Zoology and General Ecology mainly) at Moscow State University named after M. V. Lomonosov. Have Master of Science degree in Biology. Let me tell you about my studentship past. During first few years, I was nearly satisfied with the methods that we use for studying animals. Even though there was some hidden disagreement inside my heart when we were taught, for example, to make stuffed birds out of a live ones, or to pierce spines of live frogs in order to observe their reflexes, I seldom protested practically... Nevertheless, few years later, I realized both uselessness of our activities and the seriousness of harm that we do to our planet (saying "we" I mean scientists-zoologists as whole, not counting those few individuals who prefer humane methods). |
I also understood that modern Western science deals with only a very limited part of our life, and that this narrow-mindedness is the reason of our perverted attitude towards Mother Nature. Thus my interest to what is called by some an Eastern philosophy, or Eastern religion, has increased. However, I couldn't easily find either co-thinkers or teachers in Russia. I could easier meet those, who spoke of divine love and unlimited happiness that we all have inside, but themselves were obviously very busy feeding their thirst for enjoyments of the outer world. Fortunately, there were also some interesting courses organized by sincere students of few genuine Masters, but last themselves were located in India. I wanted meet at least one real Master myself. This is why/how, in 2000, I went to India and found there an excellent LIFE Teacher. His name is Shri Satya Sai Baba. Starting from 2001, I do not make science for benefit of some limited group of individuals anymore. What I try to do today is actions for benefit of all children of our mother Earth. Science becomes no more than merely instrument for such actions in my life.
Mind as knowledge, or science, is itself neutral. What makes difference is how we use it. Let's take a scalpel as example. In hand of a true doctor it is an instrument of love, of help. But in hand of a maniac... We can easily see how our uncontrolled minds are destroying our both Culture and Health at a very high speed. As any elder in any Asian city can say today: "Alas, my boys and girls! Just recently, there was clean beautiful river here: banks decorated with spacious green trees.. Where is it now? Why are all those supermarkets, petrol-stations, McDonald? Why asphalt all over? Where is our forest, our birds, our coral reefs? Where are all those beautiful men and women in their traditional dresses? Why these young men in jeans: cigarettes in mouths and cans of beer in hands... They show neither respect for others, nor do they care of their own health... Where's our better, e.g. - more noble, more healthy life? It was here: all around.. I remember it..." Indeed, the world is keep getting worse in many aspects. This is why - as soon as possible - we must understand that our mind is a serious instrument, which needs very special care, so that to assure we, at least, do not create hell from our life. Through 2001-2005, independently from almost all my former advisers and sponsors (sorry to tell this, but they didn't express any sympathy to my new philosophy anyway), I worked in the Russian Far East - studying and protecting Asiatic black bear and it's habitat (see here). Without disturbing animals, without any public shows* (details).
Healingnature - history and essence of a project
Not surprisingly - because I grew up in a cold country I guess : -) - I was always interested in tropical regions. Particularly: red books, watched documentaries and listened to other people’s stories about Amazon, Indonesia, Africa, Cambodia... I felt especially “charged” hearing about those adventurous experiences that rainforests provide for a courageous folks, who walk silently under closed canopy of gigantic, beautiful trees. Based on the information from different sources, I picturized a real virgin rainforest as following:
- Grandeur, greatness;
- Huge trees, twined by lianas, prop up the skies. Amazing animals run along their massive trunks. In the crowns, hundreds birds are singing, and monkeys play the touch-last;
- Below, there are crystally-clear creeks, from which one can drink without any fear;
- Local inhabitants are simple and kind: they wouldn't take too much from Nature, wouldn't give you a bad advise either;
- Animals (at least in the least accessible parts of this forest, of course) have no fear of Man; they take food from your hand gently.
Or, to sum sum it up: a real Paradise.
"Impossible! Sheer fantasy!": may one comment. But my consciousness told me that we either had, or even still have this kind of forest somewhere. As I grew elder, I would periodically collect and spend all my funds for "going jungle". Such abnormal life I led: spent all money for traveling so far from my sweet home and loving parents, and did almost nothing (from widespread viewpoint) for the career. But - even trying hard - I couldn’t arrest this tendency. Forest of Eastern Cambodia, which I've visited in 1999, was quite different from what I picturized. There was some similarity however, and this is why I continued my search. Later I came to idea to check out depths of the Great Green Ocean of Forest, that covered Indonesian island Kalimantan still in early 1990ss. But going there was too expensive for me. Few years later the news spread that lowland rainforest of Kalimantan is almost completely gone – as result of intensive logging and human-induced fires. From this moment I could only hope that some day I will plant my own rainforest, and will make there everything exactly like in my dream. In 2006, I moved permanently to Indonesia**. Here I found not only tiny remains of last beautiful Asian forests, but also a tiny island Bali, where few of my co-thinkers live. Bali is one of a very few places in our world, where – despite strong pressure of “modern ways of thinking” - many people still hold for Religion, still do not give up their self-respect, their traditions, their inner beauty. Bali will never lose it's status of the God's Island.
Healingnature is basically my practical, social project, aiming protection of natural landscapes of Indonesia, where I live now ***.
Here one may ask: “Why Indonesia? Why was not settle down into Africa, or into Amazon? There is also lot of forest there..” The answer is particularly given just above. Indonesia, especially Bali, attracts me not only by it’s beautiful and warm Nature. The warmth of people's hearts - the mentioned Eastern philosophy, or - rather - a Science of Love - this is a true reason. According to Sathya Sai Baba: “The relationship of man, nature, and God is very intimate, which scientists may not be able to realize” (Sanathana Sarathi 36, February 1993, p. 45). Can one describe in words a fragrance? Similarly, who can express in words depths of enjoyment that fills the person who realizes his/her union with others through God and Nature? If only you understand the Hindu concept of one and same God being present in every person, regardless his/her nationality, belief system etc., you will also understand why Balinese people are generally so sweet-hearted. (They remind me the genuine Hindus themselves!) On the other hand, an average Western man would say there is either no God, or we don't have evidences (both “for” and “against”), or that God is separate from us. In best-best scenario he/she would claim that real God can be reached by members of particular church/religious group, but not by other spiritual persons... Western people generally can better understand language of scientific terms and schemes, than the heart language. Well, I have no choice, but to address to their minds, giving them technical details of lives of some animals, trees, and so on. No doubts: these are useful data (if used for good). But this is only a little bit of this miracle called life! I also gently remind my opponents that their favorite science fails to answer many basic questions, such as origin of Universe for example. It is only on the East we can meet genuine Masters Who teach the most profound truths about evolution of ourselves and the whole cosmos. Going further this way, I say that India, though (at least in remotest parts) is still free from some polluting Western technologies, owns ancient knowledge about structure of our world, body and especially consciousness, which appears to be far more broad and deep, than all our natural sciences taken together! For example, while Western science has explanations regarding
- structure and functioning of physical bodies of Man and animals;
- structure and functioning of diverse ecological systems, with their complex inter-dependences;
- evolution of physical carcasses (bodies) and brains of living beings;
the Eastern science gives detailed answers to all these, and many other questions, including:
- structure of our consciousness (which, though connected with brain, is not same as the last);
- subtle nature of our dreaming-state (in which we all spend at least 1/3 part of our lives);
- the evolution of consciousnesses of all beings. (Our science deals mainly with bodies and brains. It doesn't recognize presence of subtle inside the gross. Thus it can only explain how all these bodies and brains function and develop, but not why they function and develop in such and such ways. Eastern science answers not only question where we came from, but also question where do we go).
The noticeable difference between patterns with which both Western and Eastern sciences influence my mental state, or my mood (my sense of being), is perhaps the most important thing I want to share with you. While remembering many pages of information, given to me by my teachers from Moscow University, usually resulted in tiredness and somewhat heavy sense of being, Eastern Science has rather the opposite effect. It’s holy scriptures make me happier every year! Moreover: slowly-slowly, step by step, this wonder of wonders – Eastern philosophy - freed me from some really bad habits, which I couldn’t give up for years. An occasional consuming of alcohol, smoking, even eating animals, as well as many other mind/health -threatening traits - all this is completely gone now! As resullt, and according to words of many people, I even look much younger than my passport age. Whenever possible, I’m trying to visit forests, mountains, sea or riverside. All my small projects (little branches of Healingnature) are organized in such way that participants can not only contribute in protection of diverse forms of life (including birds, trees, corals etc.), but – at the same time – can deeply enjoy the atmosphere of the work itself. For example, isn't it a pure joy to snorkel in coral reef – among hundreds fishes of all colors and shapes – with purpose of removing plastic garbage from there?
Of course – just like any other project organizer – I have some "terms and conditions" for those who want to join. Some of these rules may sound a bit strange, or rather unusual. However, believe me: they were designed with the only goal - to make your participation safe, enjoyable, and efficient at the same time.
Some health-threatening trends made strong roots into mind of today's Man. The proverb says: “Saw thought and reap the action. Saw action and reap the habit. Saw habit, reap the destiny”. You may not be interested in true religion or deep philosophies, but at least you cannot reject your own life experience, can you? Doesn't your own experience tell you that the above proverb is absolutely correct? Whatever we have in minds – sooner or later – comes out as action and influences our life. Controlling our thoughts is obviously a key to happy destiny. But today only a few individuals out of few dozens of thousands can control their thoughts (and, respectively – habits) to some good extent. Participation in my projects requires that - at least for short time - you give up a sound part of your self-destructive tendencies and strive to do a really good service for benefit of all. It can be hard, or even very hard, of course... On the other hand, I know - humankind has no better choice than overcoming it's weaknesses. Our planet suffers from such diseases like air pollution, global climate change and other, which are direct result of our egoistic way of thinking and the bad habits that last produces. Bad habits, such as jealousy, greed, competition etc. weaken us. They steal our happiness. They force us to work and work hard. In order to do more work in less time we tend to rely too much on machines and even to destroy habitat of our younger brothers and sisters - animals. But, by hurting others, don't we hurt ourselves? We do! Soon or later - all our actions affect ourselves! Thus, we must immediately correct ourselves - by uprooting at least the most dangerous habits. Last can be uprooted easier by getting involved into something really exciting. I have a pair of exciting projects here in Indonesia. Waiting you! Get up and join me RIGHT NOW in this pure and constructive task: in HEALING the NATURE!
Closing this introducing paper, let me sum up this wonderful Eastern Science, or rather - this SCIENCE of LOVE FOR ALL:
Man cannot attain long-lasting happiness until he learns - when planning and especially acting - to take to account needs of all beings. To be at least a humankind-lover is of course much much nobler than to be a common egoistic fellow. However even this sort of love, though big, isn't big enough! Because not only people, but also all these four-legged, two-winged, flying, jumping, creeping etc. creatures are the equal members of our divine family. This whole world is just ONE family, ONE organism, not many! The connection between all limbs of this divine body is ABSOLUTELY strong. You can't be happy by taking care only of your head and hands, for example. Legs also must be given some attention. So - same with everything...
That was it. Would like more philosophic reading? There you go please!
