"Eat grapes! Let them eat grapes."
Kindness and compassion are mandates of conscience. Though in nature the fittest survives at the expense of the weakest, by the light of the understanding that flows to us from the god(dess) that we aim to actualize in history, the overfed insect high on the leaf is not worthier than the one deprived on the ground. Only our species was given the understanding to bring this light into creation. To this end we are singled through evolution.
Government, in a democracy even more so, is but the collective tool to actualize, implement into reality, this understanding. If a government fails, no matter how immense its power, it will be taken away.
