High Country Audubon Society
Adopt-an-IBA
Wilson Creek Important Bird Area
High Country Audubon Society received a $380 grant in 2008 from Audubon North Carolina to help us work in the Wilson Creek Important Bird Area.  HCAS volunteers worked with Audubon NC to monitor the birds found at this site.  We conducted over 30 point counts during the spring.  Even though the money was intended to help volunteers with costs associated with their efforts, such as mileage reimbursements, we decided to not use any of the money this year and will let it carryover to 2009.

We have applied for an adiditional grant in 2009 and plan on continuing, and even expanding, efforts here.  In addition to point counts we hope to do some hawk migration surveys, cleanup trash, habitat restoration or similar work.  If you are interested in volunteering to help during 2009 please contact
Bob Cherry.
