Grandfather Mountain - Grandfather Mountain is the tallest mountain in the Blue Ridge and the only private park in the world designated by the United Nations as an International Biosphere Reserve. Grandfather Mountain has been a wildlife sanctuary and nature preserve for over 100 years and offers frequent nature programs, including many related to birds and birding. The entrance is on US 221 between Linville and the Blue Ridge Parkway.
