Internet
This is a list of sites not already linked to elsewhere in the Resources and Interpretations section.
Joseph Carey Merrick Tribute Website
This is certainly the best site out there about Joseph, and it's my personal favorite. The site has lots of great information, as well as a discussion forum, a 'virtual graveside' to leave your remarks and tributes, and an online store with proceeds going to charity (the Proteus Syndrome Foundation). Definitely be sure to explore this site - it's great!
19th Century Medical Curiousities/Elephant Man Homepage
Although this site isn't really my personal favorite, it does have some good information in the section on Joseph, and is certainly worth taking a look at.
Diorama
This was just too cute for me to leave out. I wish I had an extra $115 USD, but alas, such is the story of my life - I don't! Of course, if anyone is looking to just be generous, I do welcome donations...
Discover Leicester
This is a really great website for Joseph's home town. As far as I know, there isn't anything about Joseph on their site, but it does have a lot of information about the city, and is certainly an interesting site.
Leicester Mercury
The newspaper for the city of Leicester. You will find some information about Joseph if you search articles for his name, and I get the impression they are proud to be his birthplace. As an amusing note, I discovered there's a lake named after him in the city! Although, it's called 'John' Merrick lake - well, they tried anyway!
Transport for London
Alright, I did include this as a bit of a joke, but in all honesty, it really is important not to get lost on your trip to London! It is a large city, and this site should be helpful in finding your way around. Plus, at least this way you'll get some idea of where the Whitechapel district is located, and the best way to get there.
Since London is such a huge, international city, there are a very large number of sites dedicated to various aspects of it. I recommend doing your own search, as there's no way I could ever list all the sites here! Besides, it's interesting to see what's out there!
