**A Glimpse Into My Teaching Philosophy**
As a teacher, I feel it is important to recognize the strengths of every child and to understand that each child has something to contribute to the classroom.  I share Gardner’s belief that there are multiple intelligences.  This is something I will be cognizant of when teaching.  In any classroom there will be students with varying learning styles and different academic strengths and weaknesses.  I feel it is important to remember that every child, just like every adult, has strengths and weaknesses.  Instead of focusing on a child’s weakness, I feel it is vital to focus even more on his or her strengths in order to keep the child motivated and feeling successful.  Therefore, I feel it is important to be flexible with the methods used to assess students and allow for knowledge to be shared in various ways.

**A Bit About Me**

I attended UCLA and majored in psycology.  While in college, I tutored students in a nearby elementary school and really enjoyed this experience. However, during this time, I never consided becoming a teacher.  It was not until nearly ten years later, that I began working with students again as a private tutor at an elementary school in Santa Monica.  I realized at this time, that teaching is something I wanted to pursue.  For the past three years I have worked as a teaching assistant in a sixth, first, and second grade classroom.  I have found this work to be fullfilling each and every day and am excited to begin teaching in my owm second grade classroom this fall in Santa Monica.

**EED 515 Online**
This website was created for an educational online computer class at CSUN.  I had no experience with building websites prior to this class.  Once I learned the basics of how to upload files, I found that creating a site is fun and useful.  I plan to have a website for my students this coming year as a way to communicate with parents and students.  Assignments and descriptions of long-term projects will be posted on the site weekly.

**Goals**
I first plan to survive having my own classroom this year!  I am excited to teach second grade.
I plan to get involved in my school by joining a school improvement committee. Throughout the next few years, I plan to "clear" my credential as well as join two professional educational organizations.
