USRC:
UNITED STATES ROTTWEILER CLUB

Hawaii Rottweiler Verein is affiliated with the United States Rottweiler Club (USRC). The USRC is a national organization dedicated to the complete Rottweiler - temperament, conformation, and working ability. The USRC is equivalent to the Allgemeiner Deutscher Rottweiler Klub (ADRK) in Germany and follow rules established by the Federation Cynologique International (FCI). USRC conducts its own Schutzhund trials and is the only Rottweiler club in the American Working Dog Federation (AWDF). As with HRV, the USRC supports breed rescue and the Rottweiler Health Foundation.

The AWDF consists of 10 national breed organizations and is focused on the working dog. Formed in 1989, AWDF's primary goal is to provide an expansive foundation to represent the working dog throughout the world. The group also is dedicated to preserve and protect the heritage of our respective breeds in America. The AWDF acknowledges the fact that while native countries maintain their breeds' working abilities, American breeders tend to breed for conformation rather than working ability. Thus the working ability of our American dogs tend to diminish in comparison to breeders in foreign countries. It is the AWDF's goal, as well as that of USRC and HRV, to preserve our dogs' working abilities.

The FCI is a world recognized organization that only acknowledges one registry per country. Originally created in 1911, the FCI's aim was to promote and protect purebred dogs by any means necessary. The original nations were Germany, Austria, Belgium, France, and Netherlands. The organization disappeared during World War I but was recreated in 1921. The FCI recognizes 330 breeds, and each breed's standard is created in the native country of the breed. The FCI members all agree to one standard for each breed to be used internationally. The FCI updates and translates these breed standards into 4 languages (French, English, Spanish, and German). The FCI also protects kennel names internationally. It is noted that the FCI is not a registry, nor does it issue pedigrees. It does not maintain a list of international breeders. However it does maintain a list of national canine organizations recognized by FCI that do have these lists.

These two organizations, ADWF and FCI, provide a solid foundation from which the USRC promotes its principles. Dedication to working ability over conformation, yet without compromising solid good health for beauty. Temperament also is extremely important when considering the complete Rottweiler. The USRC has an extensive Code of Ethnics which member breeders must adhere to so that future solid, healthy Rottweilers may guide our breed into the future. HRV fully supports the ideas which the USRC extends to the Rottweiler community.
