| Backgroung - 1999's "Rock Is Dead Tour' was lunched in 1999 with was was to be a joint venture between Marilyn Manson and Hole. The tour was chaos and Hole dropped of the tour half way through, less then thrilled with Marilyn Manson. The last 3 or 4 shows of the tour were cancled because of the events of 4-20-99 (the day saw the tour). Two dipshits with guns, shot up their school and the finger of blame when to Manson. Manson then cancled their Denver show and then soon after the last few shows left on the tour. Going to this show was a last minute thing because my sister had two tickets, but she was going to have a adult go with her. No one had the time off, so she gave me the ticket cause I wanted to go, but had not money. The day before the show, I had seen Marilyn Manson's pants and boots at the Rolling Stone display at NIU. When we got to the show, we got a few overpriced t-shirts and took our seats. First onstage was Nashville Pussy, and they sucked! Lets just leave it at that. Then after a long wait, the house lights went down and strob lights went off and Intro music played. Then the curtians opened and the stage was dark except for the blue lights from a cross of TV.s Manson was on. The cross went from a 0 to 90 o angle and manson got off. The band then went into "Reflecting God". The show was unbelievable. Supprises, Props, Effects, Pyro, Ever changing back drops, and more coustumes than Halloween. It was far more than a bunch of people playing instruments. They played a well balanced set, playing at least 2 songs of of each album. The song "Antichrist Superstar" was a personal favorite for me. thats when he dressed up as a minister and ripped up the Bible. Of couse, like all bands they played the hits like "The Beautiful People", "Sweet Dreems", "Dope Show", ect. It is probable the best concert I have ever been to. I was not able to see Manson upclose that time, but the next time I saw Manson I did. It was a great show. |
