About
Magnum!
Magnum
was a handsome, muscular, 90 lb. Chocolate
with a broad head and barrel chest.
He was 100% amateur trained and handled. He was a conventionally trained dog (no collar).
Magnum
displayed
lots of ambition, style, and resilience.
He was a super intelligent athlete with strong desire to please.
His drive, courage, line running, and marking ability were remarkable.
Field trialers across the country marveled at his mental capacity.
He was extremely talented with a fantastic training attitude, and he
was
a great cold water dog. Magnum
loved to hunt and was experienced at both upland and waterfowl game.
When
he was not field trialing or hunting, he relished life as a companion
and house dog. Magnum's hips,
eyes, and elbows were sound. He had no history of any muscular, genetic/hereditary
disorders.
Since
early age, Magnum had demonstrated his abilities by being the all time highest
scoring Chocolate for Junior Events in North America.
In 1989, Magnum was the 4th place Junior dog in Canada at 15 months of
age with six First placings, totaling 36 Junior points.
Magnum
was never entered in Qualifying Stakes.
On his second birthday, he was entered in his first Open All Age event
and he took first place. The very
next day he received a second place in the Open.
Later that month, Magnum completed both his Open and Amateur Field
Champion Titles, an exceptional feat for a 24 month old.
That
year Magnum won 4 First placings, he acquired a total of 28 Open All-Age
points. He was the 5th place open
dog in Canada and the winner of the Charles Bjork Trophy Award (Top Open dog
in the Prairie Provinces).
Magnum
continued to be an outstanding Field Trial Competitor and in Limited
Trialing acquired 115 All-Age points, including one U.S. Amateur
win in 1992.
Magnum
is History's All Time highest scoring Chocolate for Open All Age Events.
Magnum
was competitive in the following National Championship Stakes:
1991
Canadian National Amateur-8 Series
1995
Canadian National Amateur-9 Series
It
is evident that he threw natural talent, looks, and desire to his pups.
They posess a high degree of trainability and an undying desire to bond with and please man.
Magnum
sired History's All Time High Point Junior Chocolate. “Costa Lot Shadow”
the 1994 First Place Junior dog in Canada with 59 points.
“Super
Soaker” another Chocolate offspring that shows unbelievable potential, won
first place in the Derby, the very first time he was entered in a AKC
licensed Field Trial in 1994, at just 12 months of age.
Magnum
has produced many other great dogs, some of which are qualified all age, some
with open all age points, and others with hunt test titles.
Unlike many Labradors that are out of winning field trial bloodlines,
both Annie and Magnum are tractable, well mannered companion and house dogs,
as well as being exceptionally talented and enthusiastic field dogs, they pass
these qualities on to their offspring.
