Invitatory Prayers
herePsalm 100 (101)
Ant. 1
Ordinary:
To you, oh Lord, I will sing; I will study the way that is blameless.Advent:
The Lord shall come forth from his holy place; he will arrive to save his people.Easter-tide:
Whoever does my Father’s will shall enter into the kingdom of heaven, halleluia.I will sing of loyalty and of justice;
To you, oh Lord, I will sing.
I will study the way that is blameless.
When shall I attain it?
I will walk with integrity of heart within my house;
I will not set before my eyes anything that is base
I hate the work of those who fall away;
It shall not cling to me.
Perverseness of heart shall be far from me;
I will know nothing of evil.
One who secretly slanders a neighbor
I will destroy.
A haughty look and an arrogant heart
I will not tolerate.
I will look with favor on the faithful in the land,
So that they may live with me;
Whoever walks in the way that is blameless
Shall he minister to me.
No one who practices deceit shall remain in my house;
No one who utters lies shall continue in my presence.
Morning by morning
I will destroy all the wicked in the land,
Cutting off all evildoers
From the city of the Lord.

Ant. 2
Ordinary:
Do not withdraw your favour from us, oh Lord.Advent:
Zion, our fortified city, has the Saviour for its bastions and walls: throw open its doors, God is with us, alleluia.Easter-tide:
Let the nations see in us the signs of your goodness, Lord, halleluia.May you be blessed and revered, Lord, God of our ancestors,
May your name be held glorious for ever.
For you are upright in all that you have done for us,
All your deeds are true,
Even when we have sinned and deserted you,
Yes, even when we have greatly sinned.
Do not abandon us for ever, for the sake of your name;
Do not repudiate your covenant,
Do not withdraw your favour from us,
For the sake of Abraham, your friend,
For Isaac’s sake, your servant,
And of Israel, your holy one,
To whom you promised to make their descendants
As many as the stars of heaven
And as the grains of sand on the seashore.
Lord, we have become the least of all nations,
Because of our sins
We are put to shame today throughout the world.
We now have no leader, no prophet, no prince
No burnt offering, no sacrifice;
No oblation, no incense,
No place where we can make offerings to you
And win your favour.
However, may the contrite soul and humbled spirit
Be as acceptable to you
As burnt offerings of rams and bullocks
As thousands of fat lambs:
Such let our sacrifice be to you today,
And may it please you that we follow you whole-heartedly,
Since those who trust in you
Will not be shamed.
And now we put our whole heart into following you,
into fearing you and seeking your face once more.

Ant. 3
Ordinary:
I will sing a new song to you, oh God.Advent:
Your ways are seen on earth, Lord, among all nations your salvation.Easter-tide:
The Lord is my refuge and my liberator, halleluia.Blessed be the Lord, my rock,
Who trains my hands for war,
And my fingers for battle.
My rock and my fortress,
My stronghold and my deliverer,
My shield, in whom I take refuge,
Who subdues the peoples under me.
Oh Lord, what are human beings that you regard them,
Or mortals that you think of them?
They are like a breath;
Their days are like a passing shadow.
Bow your heavens, oh Lord, and come down;
Touch the mountains so that they smoke.
Make the lightning flash and scatter them;
Send out your arrows and rout them.
Stretch out your hand from on high;
Set me free and rescue me from the mighty waters,
From the hand of aliens,
Whose mouths speak lies,
And whose right hands are false.
I will sing a new song to you, oh God;
Upon a ten-stringed harp I will play to you,
You are the one who gives victory to kings,
Who rescues his servant David.
