Invitatory Prayers
herePsalm 86 (87)
Ant. 1
Ordinary:
Oh city of God he speaks of you glorious things.Advent:
Towards you, oh Lord, I shall lift up my soul; come and free me, my Lord, as I seek refuge in you.Easter-tide:
All your inhabitants shall sing joyfully to you, oh City of God, halleluia.On the holy mount stands
The city he founded;
The Lord loves the gates of Zion
More than all the dwellings of Jacob.
Glorious things he speaks of you,
Oh city of God.
"Among those who know me
I mention Rahab and Babylon;
Philistia too, Tyre and Ethiopia.
‘This one was born there,’ they say.
And of Zion it shall be said,
"This one and that one were born in it!
For the Most High himself
Will establish it."
The Lord records, as he registers the peoples,
"This one was born there."
Singers and dancers say alike,
"All my springs are in you."

Ant. 2
Ordinary:
The Lord God comes with might, carrying his reward.Advent:
Accomplish, oh Lord, the wish of those that hope in you, so that your prophets are shown to have been trustworthy people.Easter-tide:
He gathers the flock like a shepherd and carries the lambs in his arms, halleluia.See, the Lord God comes with might,
his arm rules for him.
His reward is with him,
His recompense before him.
He will feed his flock like a shepherd,
He will gather the lambs in his arms,
Carry them in his bosom,
Gently lead the mother sheep.
Who has measured the waters in the hollow of his hand,
Or marked off the heavens with a span?
Who has enclosed the dust of the earth in a measure,
Or weighed the mountains in scales
And the hills in a balance?
Who has directed the spirit of the Lord,
Or as his counselor has instructed him?
Whom did he consult for his enlightenment,
Or who taught him the path of justice?
Who taught him knowledge,
Showed him the way of understanding?
Even the nations are like a drop from a bucket,
They are accounted as dust on the scales.
See, he takes up the isles like fine dust.
Lebanon would not provide fuel enough,
Nor are its animals enough for a burnt offering.
All the nations are as nothing before him;
They are accounted by him as less than nothing and emptiness.

Ordinary:
Extol with praise our God and worship at his holy mount.Advent:

Great is the Lord in Sion: he reigns over all peoples, halleluia.The Lord is king; let the peoples tremble!
He sits enthroned upon the cherubim; let the earth quake!
The Lord is great in Zion;
He is exalted over all the peoples.
Let them praise your great and awesome name.
Holy is he!
Mighty King, lover of justice,
You have established equity;
You have executed justice and righteousness in Jacob.
Extol the Lord our God;
Worship at his footstool. Holy is he!
Moses and Aaron were among his priests,
Samuel also was among those who called on his name.
They cried to the Lord, and he answered them.
He spoke to them in the pillar of cloud;
They kept his decrees, and the statutes that he gave them.
Oh Lord our God, you answered them;
You were a forgiving God to them,
But an avenger of their wrongdoings.
Extol the Lord our God,
Worship at his holy mountain;
For the Lord our God is holy.

1 Pt 4, 10-11
As every man has received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God gives: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ.
