Morning Prayers – LAUDS

Invitatory Prayers here

Psalm 118 (119) 145-152

Ant. 1

Ordinary: Hear my voice, oh Lord, all your ways are true.

Advent: God is coming from Lebanon, shining out rays of light.

Easter-tide: The words I have said unto you are spirit and life, halleluia.

With my whole heart I cry;

Answer me, oh Lord.

I will keep your statutes.

I cry to you; save me,

That I may observe your decrees.

I rise before dawn and cry for help;

I put my hope in your words.

My eyes are awake before each watch of the night,

That I may meditate on your promise.

In your steadfast love hear my voice, oh Lord;

In your justice preserve my life.

Those who persecute me with evil purpose draw near;

They are far from your law.

Yet you are near, oh Lord,

All your commandments are true.

Long ago have I learned from your decrees

That you have established forever.

Wisdom 9, 1-11

Ant. 2

Ordinary: Lord, your wisdom will help me in my toil.

Advent: Shower, oh heavens, from above, let the skies rain down righteousness; that the earth may open and salvation spring up.

Easter-tide: Lord, you have built the temple and the altar on your holy mount, halleluia.

God of our ancestors, Lord of mercy,

Who by your word have made the universe;

In your wisdom have fitted human beings,

To rule the creatures that you have made,

To govern the world in holiness and saving justice

And in honesty of soul to dispense fair judgement.

Grant me Wisdom, consort of your throne,

And do not reject me from the number of your children.

For I am your servant,

Son of your serving maid,

A feeble man, with little time to live,

With small understanding

Of justice and the laws.

Indeed, were anyone perfect among the sons of men,

If he lacked the wisdom, that comes from you,

He would still count for nothing.

With you is wisdom, who knows your works,

Who was present when you made the world;

Who understands what is pleasing in your eyes,

And what agrees with your commandments.

Despatch wisdom from the holy heavens,

Send her forth from your throne of glory,

To help me and toil with me

And teach me what is pleasing to you;

Since wisdom knows and understands everything,

And will guide me prudently in my actions,

And will protect me with his own glory.

Ant. 2

Psalm 116 (117)

Ant. 3

Ordinary: The faithfulness of the Lord endures forever.

Advent: Prepare yourself, Israel, to receive the Lord who is coming.

Easter-tide: I am the way, the truth and the life, halleluia.

Praise the Lord, all you nations!

Extol him, all you peoples!

For great is his steadfast love toward us,

The faithfulness of the Lord endures forever.

Ant. 3

Advent: Prepare yourself, Israel, to receive the Lord who is coming.

Easter-tide: I am the way, the truth and the life, halleluia.

Short Lesson in Ordinary Time

Phil 2, 14-15

Do all things without murmurings and disputings:, that you may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom you shine as lights in the world.
