Invitatory Prayers
herePsalm 42 (43)
Ant. 1
Ordinary:
Lord, send out your light and your truth.Easter-tide:
You have approached mount Sion and the city of the living God, halleluia.Vindicate me, oh God,
Defend my cause against an ungodly people;
From those who are deceitful and unjust deliver me!
For you are the God in whom I take refuge;
Why have you cast me off?
Why must I walk about mournfully
Because of the oppression of the enemy?
Oh send out your light and your truth;
Let them lead me;
Let them bring me to your holy hill,
To your dwelling.
Then I will go to the altar of God,
To God my exceeding joy;
And I will praise you with the harp,
Oh God, my God.
Why are you cast down, oh my soul,
Why are you disquieted within me?
Hope in God; for I shall again praise him,
He is my help and my God.

Ordinary:
Save us, Lord, all the days of our lives.Easter-tide:
Lord, you have saved my life from destruction, halleluia.I said, "In the noontide of my days I must depart;
I am consigned to the gates of Sheol for the rest of my years."
I said, "I shall not see the Lord in the land of the living;
I shall look upon mortals no more
Among the inhabitants of the world."
My dwelling is plucked up,
Removed from me like a shepherd’s tent.
I have rolled up my life,
Like a weaver cutting me off from the loom;
From day to night you bring me to an end.
I cry for help until morning;
Like a lion the Lors breaks all my bones;
From day to night you bring me to an end.
Like a swallow I clamor, I moan like a dove.
My eyes are weary with looking upward.
You have held back my life from the pit of destruction,
For you have cast all my sins behind your back.
For Sheol cannot thank you,
death cannot praise you;
They cannot hope for your faithfulness
Those who go down to the pit.
The living thank you, as I do this day;
Fathers make known your faithfulness to children.
The Lord will save me, and we will sing to the harp
All the days of our lives, at the house of the Lord.

Ant. 3
Ordinary:
Praise is due to the Lord God in his holy city, Zion.Easter-tide:
You have come to visit earth and have filled it with joy, halleluia.Praise is due to you, oh God, in Zion;
To you shall vows be performed,
You who answer prayer!
To you all flesh shall come,
When deeds of iniquity overwhelm us,
You forgive our transgressions.
Happy are those whom you choose
And bring near to live in your courts.
We shall be satisfied with the bounty of your house
In your holy temple.
By awesome deeds you answer us with deliverance,
oh God of our salvation.
For you are the hope of all ends of the earth
And of the farthest seas.
By your strength you established the mountains;
You are girded with might.
You silence the roaring of the seas,
The roaring of their waves, the tumult of the peoples.
Those who live at earth’s farthest bounds
Are awed by your signs.
The morning and evening gateways,
You make them shout for joy.
You visit the earth and water it,
You greatly enrich it;
The river of God is full of water;
You provide the people with grain.
For so you have prepared it:
You water its furrows abundantly,
Settling its ridges, softening it with showers,
Blessing its abundant growth.
You crown the year with your bounty;
Your wagon tracks overflow with richness.
The pastures of the wilderness overflow,
The hills gird themselves with joy.
The meadows clothe themselves with flocks,
The valleys deck themselves with grain,
They shout and sing together for joy.

1 Thes. 5, 4-5
You, brethren, are not in darkness that the Day of the Lord should overtake you as a thief. Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.
