| Hi there... It's me Hasbi, my students used to call me Pak Hasbi, whereas at Flinders University my course coordinator calls me 'trouble maker'. I was born in a small village, where I could smell the fresh aroma of the soil, I could find the harmony among the people. I could see the happy bees wheezling around my parent's garden. A small village where I was going to a clean river to swim, pardon me, we did not have any swimming pool. A small village where I went to the jungle to collect some rubber-tree seeds for my toys. A small village where the birds and roosters wake me up early in the morning. A small village where I got my primary and secondary education. We did not have any electricity until I went to junior high school. We did not have any computer until I was about to finish my senior high school education. I went to Andalas University to continue my study in English Department, actually I was also applying for Pharmacy but I was not lucky enough to pass the test. Four and half years at English Department, University of Andalas, gave me some ideas of what the other part of the world are like. I learned a little bit history of America, a little bit history of literature, Shakespeare, Hemingway, Steinbeck, etc. After finishing my university degree, I worked in a small hotel, in Padang. It was an old building used to be a bank in collonialism era. This little hotel was run by Germany Lady, she was very mean to her staff but I enjoyed working there because it was my first job. But then my old friend from Uni rang me and told me to teach at Polytechnic. It took one week for me to decide that I want to teach at Polytechnic. Finally I teach at Polytechnic as an English Teacher. Two years teaching in a class room, I got a scholarsip from Ausaid to study at Flinders University, Adelaide. I never dreamt to go abroad, it is almost impossible for me, a little boy from a remote village to go to Australia. But it is my way of life....c'est la vie. At Flinders I found a friendly environment, with friendly administrative staff, and luckily I also have friendly teaching staff. They understand what the international students' problems and difficulties. As I have too many problems that's why my program coordinator always call me as "trouble maker". This website is one of my project in ICT Class. It is developed using yahoogeocities page builder. It does not mean Flinders does not have tool to develop web page, we do have the latest edition of dream weaver, supported with flash 5, but those program are still too complicated for me. I hope you enjoy my web and got some information from this. Have a great day mates!!.....
