KURPA SPECIAL CARE CENTER
The Krupa Special Care Centre is a School for Special Children. Here we will give these Children the Training to be Independent and Productive Members of the Society. The Children with Mental Retardation and Multiple Disabilities have the Right and the Hope to be a part of this Modern World. At Krupa Special Care Centre, in Phase I, they will be taught functional skills, to cut vegetables, washing of hands and simple house keeping. Basic grooming of hygiene and table manners will also be taught. The older children will be taught the use of public transportation system. The one-to-one training is being imparted by the Special Educators. In Phase II, of our Project they will acquire both vocational as well as academic skills.

MOTIVATION: As learning differences are better understood and diagnosed, many more Parents are coming forward for the right help for their Children. The Special Education has greatly advanced in the developed Countries.  The need is understood in India as well. Hence the Government of India has been increasingly concerned about the need for affirmative action in favor of persons with Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Mental Retardation and Multiple Disabilities. To this effect on the Fiftieth year of the Republic of India an Act was formed to provide for the Welfare of the Persons with these Multiple Disabilities.  This Act is called The National Trust With No. 44 of the 1999. It is a statutory body, which was formed in the year 1999. The National Trust Act is under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India. They along with The National Institute of Mentally Handicapped (NIMH) and other NGOs work to achieve all the aims of the Trust.  The NIMH Mumbai Centre has consented to give their technical help and general assistance to Harvest International Ministries to conduct this Special School, Krupa Special Care Centre at Nallasopara, Mumbai, Indai.

PURPOSE: Broadly speaking the initial Care Takers of the Mentally Disabled are their Parents. They are the ones who are under the greatest strain and undergo the maximum torture and fatigue. This is because they are with the children most of the time of the day; especially the mother, she is the one who is the first Caretaker of these Children. We want to Focus your attention on these Parents who are suffering the mental and physical agony. Along with your help, we at the Ministry could help ease their sufferings. The Special Children are more Precious to us hence we want to help them to be developed and be useful Citizens of our Country. In this way the Society can accept them and give them an opportunity to find employment in simple trades and crafts, thereby be partially independent and not be a burden to their parents.
