Why not?

I felt manipulated, used.

Okay, what about the next time you saw him?

That was at a crime scene. He had found a body in a Dumpster, and he wanted me to think it was my partners ex. He called me Honey and made it look to the other cop like I was his girlfriend he had stood up for a date. I found out later that he and my partners ex had killed the guy and put him in the Dumpster.

How did he make you think the body belonged to your partners ex?

Diane didnt know if the rules were different for police psychologists than for those with private patients, and she was terrified to reveal anything that could incriminate herself. She looked Dr. Hubley in the eye and said, He had something personal of mine on him that was stolen from me earlier.

What was it?

Im not comfortable saying. Suffice it to say, he was trying to manipulate me again, probably to keep me from talking about him.

Okay, well skip ahead. When was the next time you saw him?

Diane thought a moment, and stared at the ceiling. Then she smiled. About four months later. I was doing a restitution at Freddys diner, and while I was waiting for the waitress, I looked out the window, and there he was, talking to the formerly deceased ex. I couldnt believe it. She shook her head and laughed.

Whats funny?

I thought, man, Ive been manipulated again by that scumbag. Sure enough, he calls me out of the blue saying he wants to meet me. Shows up outside and pretends he just had an urge to call me, then jokes around about what he would have to change for me. What an ass.

Were you disappointed he was just feeling you out, trying to see if you had recognized the ex?

Yeah. I mean, no. No, I was angry. Told him not to bother, Diane laughed again, and not even to move if a car came. And still that bastard called later and asked me out.

Did you go?
