Naw, you dont want that. It has shellfish. Thats no good for you this time of year, Danny said, nodding at the seafood part of the menu.

Okay, Danny, what would you recommend? Connie said calmly, trying to interject a little peace into the room.

Danny took a deep breath and said, The vegetable stir-fry is probably great. Or the chicken mushroom. But stay away from the Kung Pao or Szechwan stuff. That spicy stuff is no good.

Thats my favorite part, Diane said. Spicy Szechwan Shrimp.

Diane! Danny looked shocked. Thats no good for your health!

Diane snapped, Why is everyone so concerned about my health all of a sudden?

Connie gave up, and her head bobbed back and forth, following the ball as each one tried to slam it over the net.

Maybe because you see everything you eat twice, and you arent keeping anything down! Danny was turning bright red as he struggled to keep his voice down.

Thats none of your business.

I think it has everything to do with me.

Well, it doesnt.

The timeline fits, Diane. Perfectly. And you know it. I want to know what youre planning to do about it.

I havent decided yet.

I would like to have a role in this. I have an opinion. I want you to consider that.

Danny, no matter what, our relationship just didnt work. I dont want to complicate this any further by...

I think it did work. I just think you didnt give it enough time. You didnt give it a fair shot.

Danny, I dont want to discuss this right now.

Well, I do! He lost control of his voice, and it boomed around the restaurant. The other patrons quieted and stared at their table to see if anything especially entertaining would happen. They remained quiet long enough for the other patrons to resume their own conversations. Connie feigned interest in the menu.
